Saturday’s Workshop Descriptions How to Field Dress a Deer (Gutting vs. Gutless) A hands on demonstration on the proper methods for field dressing and properly caring for the meat of a white-tailed deer. Horse Packing for the Hunt How to pack horses and keep them in the backcountry. Special tips on packing hunting equipment, rifles, bows, arrows. Skinning and Butchering a Deer Packaging your own meat doesn’t have to difficult. Learn how to skin and butcher your deer quickly and safely. The Art of Making Sausage Sausage is not only tasty, it’s easy! Learn about the tricks to making your own sausage and jerky. Deer Hunting (Whitetail and Mule Deer) Without a doubt are most abundant big game. Come learn the what, where and when of deer hunting in the Clearwater Region. Elk Hunting (Bow and Rifle Strategies) Whether you bow or rifle hunt elk, attend this workshop to learn how to call in elk and how to set up to be successful this fall. Bear Hunting Bear hunting can be very exciting and the methods vary greatly. In this workshop you’ll learn the differences to help you plan your hunt. Sheep Hunting Thinking about putting in for that sheep trophy tag? This workshop will help you plan your hunt and discuss the biology of sheep in Idaho. Rifles and Shotguns, Choosing the Right Gun Choosing the right rifle caliber or the right style of shotgun can be difficult. In this course we’ll discuss the options to aid in your choice. Basic Hand loading Practices and Equipment Reloading your own rounds is easy and allows for greater accuracy down the range. Here you can learn how to reload and what you need. Muzzleloading (Traditional vs. Modern) Expand your hunting season by getting into muzzleloading. We’ll discuss the differences and transformation of the world’s oldest firearm. Bow Hunting (Traditional vs. Modern) We have two experienced bow hunters that will go over the difference between traditional and modern hunting methods. Mapping the Hunt and Technology Lots of your success in the woods depends on preparation prior to even leaving your house. Learn how to use maps & Google Earth to, look for access, scout out hunting areas, & plan your hunt. Preparing for a Backcountry Trip If you’re going to survive the backcountry you’ll want to attend this workshop. We’ll discuss safety, survival, equipment and proper trip preparation for you upcoming excursion. Accessing Private Land Finding private land to hunt on can be tough and tedious. Come to this workshop to learn the tips and tricks to gaining access to private property. Duck Hunting Ever think of getting into waterfowl? Come learn from this experienced duck hunter what you’ll need to get started. Turkey Hunting Hunting is not just for the fall! Hunting for turkeys is not only easy but a fun way to get out in the Spring time. Learn all you need to know here. Upland Game Hunting This Region has a lot to offer for upland game but where to go and where to start may be a mystery. Let us show you the options! How to Clean and Prepare Upland Game Well, you bagged your first pheasant, quail or other small game, now what? Learn the quick and easy ways to clean & prepare your harvest. Field Medicine for Bird Dogs Dogs sometimes get injured and fatigued. In this workshop you’ll learn what can be done to prevent injuries & what to do when it happens. An Introduction to Falconry Falconry is a fun and excited method for small game hunting. Here you can learn what it takes to get started. Trapping in Idaho Ever dream of running your own trap line? Learn the tricks of the trade from this experienced trapper. Current Enforcement Issues Enforcement of wildlife and fishing violations are critical to the management of Idaho’s wildlife. This workshop will highlight current enforcement issues in the Clearwater Region. Hunting Heritage Learn about hunting heritage and what it means as an Idaho sportsman. This workshop will also discuss opportunities for kids programs. Women in the Outdoors In this dynamic forum of 5 sportswomen you’ll hear their views on what it means to be a huntress and have a chance to interact with the speakers. Our Hunt Idaho EXPO will feature hunting workshops that go beyond hunter education to prepare you for the field! Each workshop takes place twice during the day just in case there is a conflict. Each workshop will last for 30 minutes with the exception of few which will last an hour. There are several all day workshops available for you to visit at anytime.
