There are no more axioms. For any suggestion there may be several design solutions, and I only play with the possible answers.

These ideas I have are usually about a traditional, classical formulation that I make fun out of.

Cardboard lamp

Dániel Lőrincz & Vasquez Alberto

When we decided to use the cardboard as raw material, it was very

important that the objects we design cannot be only papermade co

pies of existing objects. We was searching for that paperlike form which

is or which could be typical for this material. This form should be able to

give something also functional and emotional which can only be

added by using paper.

The structure of the lamp was inspired by a blade of grass which be

comes a construction by only one lengthwise folded edge. This way we

have created a built construction which merely just holds the light sour

ce and by this it also defines it ’s exact position in the space.

The backlight located on the backside of the lamp cause lower

contrast so our eyes do not get exhausted so fast as in case of a re

gular desk lamp. In addition because of the double sided lighting we

do not have to use other light source while we are working as it expos

es the whole room pleasantly reducing the energy wasting. The lamp

operates with cold white LEDs which lights with the colour gamut of the

sun at noon. This colour makes the customer wideawake using the lamp

because of our reflexes.

The Daru lamp is made of strong naturalcoloured corrugated card

board which fits well in both the technological and the biological cyc

le. This not only reduces but eliminates the production of waste.

Because of the easy shipping and storing the lamp can be sold un

folded. The customer folds the prefabricated body to the appropriate

form. With this process even the users get involved in the creation and

so the object itself becomes more important to them.

LUCIOLEhandmade mood Zsuzsanna SzentirmaiJoly

Works in the field of textile crafting / designing and visual arts.

In the process of weaving, she combines the original qualities of the

various materials used as wefts with sensuality and humour thanks to the

outofcontext elements.

“LUCIOLE” – these original lamps create a unique atmosphere

because of the meticulous technique and the very careful selection of

materials and colours. Stripes or tiny dots of light, and size label bands

make each single piece unique. (The handmade lampshade can slide

in an Ikea “Gyllen” type wall lamp structure.)

She participated in several international exhibitions: DesignKOREA,

Seoul (2005); Designmai Festival Berlin (2004); Internationale

Handwerksmesse, Munich (2003); „European Way(s) of Life”, Carrousel

du Louvre, Paris (2002); Festival International du Design, St. Étienne

MORINGARéka Molnár

Colours have not only aesthetic role, but they also have an impact on the functions of human body, especially on the vegetative system. With adequate choices of colours for interior decoration environmental conditions could be created which influences the psychological functions of human beings in certain ways.

Colour variations of MORINGA textiles are chosen based on activities taking place in the different premises of a home.

PANYIZSUZSIPanyizsuzsiJewellery Design

We at Panyizsuzsi believe modern handmade jewellery of quality is an important element in today ’s fashions for women and men. We design and produce clean simple glass jewellery with geometric shapes and strong colour combinations to make a statement reflecting timeless elegance.

Zsuzsi Panyi was born in 1975 and grew up in Budapest, the capital of Hungary. As her father was an engineer in the glass industry with a patent on glass ingredients and had a homebased business, she saw and played with melted glass at an early age. She received her Master of Architecture degree at the Technical University of Budapest. Throughout her studies she spent quite a lot of time researching and using glass structures. After graduating, she dedicated a majority of her time to her family and her three children. Later, she moved from Budapest to a nearby village called Szentendre, where numerous artists and architects live. Living in such an inspiring environment, she rediscovered the art of glass and started glass fusing in early 2007 and became acquainted with lampworking later that year.

She is inspired by the modern style of the mid 20th century, as well as contemporary art, and believes in the importance of beauty in every part of our lives.

Bold colours and simple, geometric shapes are the trademark of her unique, highquality glass pieces.

BLUE PAPRIKASzilvia Pálffy & Teréz Szűcsfashion clothing & accessories

The designers of Blue Paprika are looking into the past for a glimpse to the future. While exploring their roots, they create contemporary interpretation of it. They rethink folk motifs, colours, materials into strong statement pieces.

The collection leads us into the rich world of Hungarian folk art, considered hautecouture by the designers. Folk shapes, decorations and colours are an infinite source of inspiration for them. In their styles denim and historic wear match naturally as if taking us to a travel through time.

The clothes don’t mean to shock but represent real beauty which gives character to those who wear them.

This is not a seasonal collection, we suggest to wear the pieces at special occasions. Only one style can melt harmonically in one’s wardrobe, as they are always classical with a twist.

ILINX:Have you ever rolled on a swing crazily? Have you ever danced in a circle faster and faster until You were the rythm and the dance itself? Can you remember the fascinating feeling what these games can give you? Then, you know exactly what ILINX! is. Every game what depends on rotary motion and plays with the fracturing of your senses, giving you a blast of adrenaline and happiness, is an ILINX.

collection ILINX:The ILINX collection is playful, creative, and fantastic! The flush of life, the changing of the days. Pleasure for the creator and the audience too. The ILINX collection is doublefaced. The CARRY ON! series (within the ILINX) offers diversity in everyday ’s crazy gyration for the women with dynamic and modern lifestyle. The SENSELECTION series is sensual, instinctive, the expression of the inner effeminacy.

ILINX and LONDON!How does everyday art and fine art reflect to each other? Are we looking into the mirror or drawing up ideals? I think both. A good collection, I believe , do not accent the bodily capability, but expresses the inner characteristic. Founding the romantic, classic, dramatic, creative ourself, and also developing it. All between the flashing everyday coordinates, trying to answer presentday problems.

As usual, starring is effeminacy, but our instruments have widen radically. The art of the moment, fashion, will bear a new meaning through the realistic and nostalgic portraits of JÁNOS KOVÁCS painter.

The first eight pieces of the picture series debuts in London, calling and waiting for answer: who are women in XXI. century?Instinctive or mannered? Background or central? Dream or reality? We create the answer!

After a long break, when my twin kids become five years old „big boys”, I opened my small store at the Jaszai Mari square in Budapest. The store is not only a shop but on the gallery the sewing machine is clattering, here my thoughts come true one after the other and become real bags.

The majority of my work, in particular the garments and accessories, is created using a combination of high quality handdyed merino wool and handdyed silk fibre and fabrics. This technique is popularly referred to as „nunofelt”. The two materials are worked together and the difference in shrinkage between the wool and silk results in a varied, highly textured surface which is surprisingly durable. I also make hats using traditional hatter ’s forms, but adding twists and variations throughout the process to create unique, somewhat unorthodox pieces.

KOVÁCSGabriella KovácsTextile design/Felt

I graduated from the Hungarian Academy of Fine Arts. I am a member of the Association of Hungarian Artists, and the Studio of Young Artists and Designers. My works have been on display at a number of exhibitions since 1997.

I design woven carpets, tapestry and felted wallhangings on personal order. The dialogue between me and the customer, the desired function, as well as the atmosphere and colourscheme of the future location of the application of the work are all taken into consideration in the process of making different formal and colour plans. Then based on the plan eventually chosen by the customer, I prepare the carpet's basic outline plan. Following the procedure of collecting the required raw material, I carry out most of the dyeing of the yarns, wools and silks myself.

I started felt making in 1998. I am ever since amazed at the magic of limitless creation of the wonderful shapes and colours from the smooth woollen fibres by various felt making techniques. I make felted space and wall art, carpets, wallhangings, outfit accessories and children's toys. In recent years, I have been thinking in ever growing size. As the surface of my works expand the tiny details and factures of my art become more and more delicate. During the process of felting, I have been experimenting with monofilament yarns in my latest projects.

I mix modern techniques with traditional uses of materials. I make the surfaces of my works extraordinary by bringing woollen flakes, monofilaments, carded Hungarian racka wool and merino wool together, each representing different character. I melt silkfibres, silkyarns and loosely woven silk into my felting, thus, my felting art acquires a paintinglike quality and at the same time, the textile's qualities are left unchanged. I lead the spun woollen yarns sometimes in parallel, sometimes in tangled and other times in virtuosic lines, thus the surface becomes plastic and vivid together with the help of layering and cuttingout.

Using technical versatility and passing the traditional treasury of patters behind, I plant my own ideas into felt.

My textile pictures are made from different fabrics, with appliqué and embroidery techniques. I am using the sewing machine like a pencil, to draw on my fabrics with the threads. This is the way I can make my thoughts and my inspirations visible to others.

I like using contrasting textures, photos and metal sheets, with different types of thread and like them to be very tactile.

I can relive the memories, and I can remember my feelings, while I am stitching on the photos of things I have experienced. It is a form of meditation.

By the way, we are four Dóri, Éva, Miki and Robi. We do everything together since we were wee small. We designed and painted our own playground, and softened the dangerous parts with mushy plush. We make our sandwiches together, and laugh and laugh all day! This is how we like it!

When we are not together, we think of each other a lot.

If you'd still like to, after all this nonsense, check our reference works, and bios!

HUBA exists to promote Hungarian applied

artists and designers of various fields outside

Hungary. Our mission is to help new designs/

labels/brands or individual artists reach an

international audience in Europe and in Ja

pan. The notion of HUBA came after we ha

ve recognised costs prohibit fresh talents to

participate at trade fairs abroad which is

where the HUBA exhibition plays a vital part.
