he Formula 1 circus heads to Hungary under a cloud following the death of rising star Jules Bianchi.
This week the F1 paddock farewelled the 25-year-old Marussia driver, who died last
Saturday, nine months after sustaining severe head injuries in a horrific crash at the Japanese Grand Prix.
It has been an emotionally charged week for the sport as it reflects on a lost talent in Bianchi, who became the first F1 driver to die from injuries incurred in a race since Ayrton Senna in 1994.
Tributes are likely to continue throughout the Hungarian Grand Prix weekend as the championship reaches the halfway point of the season.
Hungary has a habit of providing a shake up having served up several surprising results over the years.
The last arrived just 12 months ago when Red Bull Racing’s Daniel Ricciardo saw off the all conquering Mercedes of Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg to score his second career win.
Fast forward a year and Mercedes once again remain the favourites with Hamilton’s title defence building following an impressive victory over rival Rosberg at the British Grand Prix.
While Hamilton triumphed at Silverstone, Williams
showed signs they can take the fight to Mercedes after leading the early stages of the race before rain ultimately extinguished their victory hopes.
The Grove squad has not won a race since Pastor Maldonado’s freak victory in the 2012 Spanish Grand Prix.
Despite the drought, there is no doubt progress is being made to bring the sleeping giant back to the top, aided by strong performances from Felipe Massa and Valtteri Bottas.
Williams may have shown a glimpse into its potential, but this weekend’s Hungarian Grand Prix will be a true test to see if they can roll back the years and challenge the sport’s front runners.

GeneralRace Laps: 70The Hungaroring is laterally demanding but as there are a lot of medium-slow speed corners, traction is also very important. Maximising pace through Sector 2 is important for lap time.The track is generally bumpy (T5 especially) but there are no major issues. Kerbs are significant in T6 and T7The track can be very dusty if it is windy, which can present issues in determining setup options.

The Hungaroring puts a focus on low speed driveability and engine response under braking. It’s not a power sensitive track so having a driveable and energy efficient Power Unit will pay dividends here.
Energy recovery isn’t a problem as just about every corner is low to medium speed. The MGU-K will recover under braking while the MGU-H can recharge on the short bursts of power. Making efficient use of the power is however very important as the long race distance and long lap means we’ll be on the limit for fuel consumption.
Difficulty rating: Medium. The energy recovery system will be highly solicited but the ICE will have a relatively easy ride as the track is not power sensitive.

10 F1 Hungarian Grand Prix I Previous Winners
A new deal between Fox Sports and Network Ten that will see just 10 Formula 1 races shown live on free-to-air will start this season.
Statements announcing the five-year agreement confirm that the subscription service will carry live coverage of practice, qualifying and races from this season.
Ten of those races will also be simulcast live on Network Ten, which had exclusively hosted F1 in Australia since 2003.
The free-to-air station will continue to broadcast all sessions from Albert Park’s Australian Grand Prix as part of the agreement.
The 10 races that are exclusively live on Fox Sports will be seen on Ten’s sub-channel One HD in 60 minute highlights form at 9:30pm on the following Monday.
