Programme Outline Preparing for your Humour speech Contest: - Translating the Contest Criteria - The Differences between Joke - Telling and Humour - Using the “call-back” Technique - Using self-deprecating humour - Using Exaggeration - Using personal experiences/examples for credibility and originality Preparing for your Evaluation Contest: - Translating the Contest Criteria - Demonstrating your power of Listening - Demonstrating your power of Observation - See what others can’t see, hear what others can’t hear and feel what others can’t feel - Remember: In an evaluation contest there are no specific speech objectives. In the first 10 years of that Journey he took part in various contests: International Speech Contests Humorous Speech Contests Evaluation Contests Story-Telling Contests Debates and Tall – Tale Contests His ambition then was to win these contests at least once – and he had succeeded. From 2000 to 2010 he concentrated on judging in these contests. He has since retired from taking part in and judging these contests.
