Planting a wind buffer to stop buffeting winds10am-12.30pm, Wednesday 18 May The Homestead Community and Learning Centre Whiltshire Drive, Roxburgh Park (Melway 179 G7)

Join with local community members to plant a windbreak around the outside of the Roxburgh Park Homestead Community Centre. Take a tour of the community garden and other facilities, followed by a free catered lunch.

Shrub up Sunbury BMX Track 10am-12.30pm, Saturday 21 MaySunbury BMX Club Cornish Street, Sunbury (Melway 382 C3)

Soft shrubs and strappy-leaved plants will be planted into a mulched garden bed at the Sunbury BMX track, to soften the landing if riders take a spill off their BMX. A free BBQ lunch will be provided.

Beautifying Ian Musgrove Reserve1pm-3pm, Sunday 22 MayFriends of Upper Moonee Ponds Creek & Enviro Champions Ian Musgrove Reserve Koala Crescent, Westmeadows (Melway 5 J7)

The Friends of Upper Moonee Ponds Creek, with local residents involved in Council’s Enviro Champions program, are continuing to beautify the Ian Musgrove Reserve. This planting will conclude with a delicious Devonshire afternoon tea.

Spruce up the shrubs10am-12.30pm, Saturday 28 May Bulla Miniature Railway, Green Street, Bulla (enter workshop driveway just after CFA) (177 B7)

Some of the shrubs that were among the first plantings at this site, are now starting to die out and need to be replaced. Take the driveway entrance just after the CFA, where car parking is available near the workshed. A free BBQ lunch will be provided.

A very important planting in Hume’s Greening calendar as it acknowledges the strong connection of Indigenous people to Country. A range of edible wildflowers and fibre-producing grasses will be planted, with free pizzas provided for the corporate volunteers and other community members who attend.

World Environment Day10am-12.30pm, Sunday 5 JuneSunbury Landcare Kismet Creek, corner of Elizabeth Drive and Prendergast Road (Melway 362 C12)

Sunbury Landcare and Hume’s Sustainability Taskforce invite other community members to plant a special wildlife habitat. What a a great way to celebrate World Environment Day! A free BBQ lunch will be provided.

Back to Blind Creek10am to 12.30pm, Sunday 26 June Friends of Blind Creek Enter off Fullwood Drive, Sunbury (Melway 381 H1)

Continue to create wildlife habitat and reduce erosion along the creek bank with the Friends of Blind Creek. Lunch will be a free BBQ. Car-parking available on Fullwood Drive or at the end of Longmire Court.
