Synectics Activity 1. Wad up your synectics paper. 2. Stand up at your table. 3. At the signal, throw your baseball at
someone who looks nice. 4. Pick up a random baseball, read it, wad it
up, and throw it again. 5. You will read and throw 3 baseballs. 6. On the 4th baseball, pick it up, unfold it,
read it, and go back to your chair if you have moved.

Indicators
What is a Performance Indicator (PI)?
An Humble ISD Performance Indicator is
a student performance or product
assessment which demonstrates
mastery of bundled standards.
Why do we need Performance Indicators in Humble ISD?
Performance Indicator Attributes Sort
1. Read and discuss the attributes of assessment with
your table group.
2. Sort attributes based on categories and create a
graphic organizer. Post organizer.
3. Be ready to present your group’s organizer.
Performance Indicators are optional
per campus discretion.
Performance Indicator Examples Across Content Areas
• Short, single-class performances or tasks • Open-ended projects (student-choice but content
driven) • Research projects/presentations • Writing Tasks (essays, dialog, poetry, etc.) • Multimedia presentations (videos, online posters) • Lab Reports • Creative writing (brochures, blogs, wikis, cartoons) • Problem solving scenarios • Etc.

New for 15-16… Technology Integration
Technology (TA) TEKS will be integrated in 3 areas
on the Instructional Framework Documents for
Mathematics (K – 10) and ELAR:
1. Performance Indicators (as applicable)
2. TEKS - Suggested Technology Standards
3. Instructional Resources (Digital Citizenship Lessons in Social
Studies or Support for Performance Indicators)

• As technology suggestions are added to Performance Indicators, related K – 8 TA TEKS and specificity are listed on the IF
• K – 8 TA TEKS will also be added in those Social Studies units where Digital Citizenship Lessons have been listed

Digital Citizenship Lessons 2014-2015 implementation - 3 lessons per grade Method of Implementation? Campus discretion
During 2015-2016, Digital Citizenship Lessons will be aligned within Social Studies Units…BUT… Method of implementation will still be at campus discretion
During 2016-2017, lessons will be implemented within Social Studies units…BUT… We will gather feedback this spring and throughout next year to see if we need to make adjustments to the plan
Please ask your Social Studies teachers to start reviewing evaluating the lessons in order to provide feedback
