The Pride MOVING TOWARD In the Fall of 2016, Humble High School launched the first full year of its T-STEM Academy with 58 students. This year, enrollment almost doubled, with enrollment reaching more than 100. HHS T-STEM Academy students are housed in their own area of HHS and have access to the latest technology. They follow an alternate flex schedule to facilitate their learning workshops and choose to follow one of three paths: Engineering, BioTechnology, or Computer Science. All students in the academy take honors level courses, including dual credit college courses. HHS T-STEM Academy has an Advisory Board of current and retired engineers, scientists, and computer engineers from companies like Exxon Mobil, Google, and Harris County Dept. of Health that work with students to help them design and bring their ideas to life. Using a learning method called Project-Based Learning (PBL), students in the academy work collaboratively to learn concepts by “doing” - planning, designing, constructing, implementing. “These students are taught concepts, then given problems to solve utilizing those concepts - and the concepts build on each other, so previous knowledge, skills and experiences are reinforced or applied in even new ways to create their solutions,” Kimberly Mouser, Instructional Administrator, said. “They have worked together to engineer flooding solutions, energy solutions, and building designs that include 3D printing and model builds of structures.” As the students learn, grow, collaborate and work, they are also building a camaraderie among themselves. “The T-STEM Academy is a school within a school,” Donna Ullrich, Humble High School Principal, explained. “They are Wildcats. They will graduate with the rest of the school when it’s their time to graduate. But they have this time and space carved out that’s dedicated solely to them. It’s their academy and that gives them a sense of pride and ownership that they’re part of something special.” T-STEM students participated in numerous field experiences this year including visits to Physics Festival Texas A&M University , STEMFest Ten80, tour of Weiss Energy Hall, the and the Offshore Technology Conference 2018. In the Fall of 2016, Humble High School launched the first full year of its T-STEM Academy with 58 students. This year, enrollment almost doubled, with enrollment reaching more than 100.

HHS T-STEM Academy students are housed in their own area of HHS and have access to the latest technology.
