Humber Enterprise Zone

At 484 hectares, equivalent to 780 football pitches, the Humber has the largest Enterprise Zone in the

country offering renewables sector Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and their supply chains the

opportunity to co-locate to make cost reductions on a major scale.

Job Creation

The Zone’s ambition is to create 1995 direct jobs, and 1190 indirect in the next five years. By 2023 between

3500 and 8500 new jobs could be created in the region as a result of offshore wind opportunities.

To March 2015, 167 employment positions and 108 construction jobs have been created on the Humber

Enterprise Zone.

Top 3 Reasons to Invest

• The largest Enterprise Zone in the UK, offering original equipment manufacturers and their supply chains the opportunity to co-locate.

• Ideally positioned for the manufacture, assembly and dispatch of turbines, with 3 of the UK’s largest North Sea wind turbine zones within easy reach.

• The Port of Grimsby is the closest major port to the network of wind farms off England’s east coast, and an important operations and maintenance centre.

Available Incentives

• Up to 100% business rate discount worth up to £275,000 per business over a 5 year period, for businesses relocating before March 2018

• Simplified local authority planning, for example, through Local Development Orders

• 100% enhanced capital allowances (tax relief) to businesses making large investments in plant and machinery on investment made before March 2020

Business Rates Retention

• All business rates growth generated by the Enterprise Zone is kept by the relevant local enterprise partnership and local authorities in the areas for 25 years to reinvest in local economic growth

• Potentially over £200m in revenue under optimum conditions over the 25 life span
