Letter from the

Executive DirectorIn 2011, The Humane Society of Tampa Bay saved 6,429 dogs, cats, puppies and kittens. More than 3,500 came from open admission, high euthanasia shelters including Hillsborough County Animal Services. We are gratified that our partnership with these shelters enables us to help more animals. We were able to save so many lives because of our loyal donors. Your financial support has allowed us to increase the number of animals that we shelter and adopt,

and allowed us to sterilize more animals from the community. We sterilized 11,538 owned pets and for the very first time… this community sterilized more cats than were euthanized. That is progress.

The programs that you support allow us to do such great work for the animals in Tampa Bay. Our overall goal is finding a home for every adoptable animal and to dramatically reduce the euthanasia that is occurring in our community. Your help is essential to meet these goals.

You are part of the solution for making the Tampa Bay area a more humane community. On behalf of the staff and volunteers, thank you for your continued support and love of animals.

As we celebrate our centennial year in Tampa Bay, we have so much to be grateful for. So many lives have been saved, so many programs are available to our community for pet owners. Affordable medical care is now available 7 days a week, and our new medical clinic is soon to open.

However, we are not even close to slowing down. We offer free shot clinics to thousands of those that are not able to provide the necessary vaccines to their animals to keep them healthy. We stand

tall against challenges and roadblocks that come our way and keep focused on our mission, to provide for the animals of our community.

With all of this, we still need your help. We have our eyes set on yet another needed project. If you have not visited our shelter, I invite you to do so. In a community of more than 1.2 million people and somewhere in the range of 550,000 animals, our shelter can only house so many. With that said, we are in need of a new shelter. There is no doubt this will eventually become a reality, however, the need is NOW.
