Closing thoughts.
IoT brings Internet economics to the physical world
Land, labor, and capital are being replaced with connected information, energy, and
algorithms; causing the next industrial revolution – it will not be easy or quick and it will not
be without pain.
Edge processing costs enable Industry 4.0
Cost of devices are now at a point that makes this possible if not inevitable; further
advances will only increase adoption
Energy is a key factor and enabler
To overcome retrofit barriers, energy harvesting if often a must – energy supply can break
the business case.
Networks are communicating value
Wireless is a must for retrofit. However information is money – keep it flowing but keep it
safe & secure.
