Hudson Yard’s commercial development is being spearheaded by major developers such as Related and Brookfield. The Related Companies were selected to build 15 million square feet of retail, residential and commercial office towers on the site that was formerly envisioned as a stadium for the Olympics, Yankees and Jets. The development will include over 1 million square feet of retail designed in the spirit of The Shops at Columbus Circle. Related has broken ground on the first office tower, which features Coach, L’Oreal and SAP as anchor tenants. The first residential tower will begin leasing in 2014. Since 2009, more than 3,500 residential units have been delivered in the Hudson Yards District, including over 1,300 affordable units, by developers such as Related, Silverstein, TF Cornerstone, Glenwood and Gotham. The new product is achieving rents north of $70 PSF and occupancy near 100%.
