"The great secret that all old people share is that you really haven't changed in seventy or eighty years. Your body changes, but you don't change at all. And that, of course, causes great confusion."

April is on its way here, blown in by March winds, maybe without anymore snow and ice. Dress in layers to keep well and to be better ready for whatever weather comes our way.
Be ready for tax day, April 15th deadline. Help is available, just register at reception for an appointment.
It’s Leonardo da Vinci’s birthday too. Maybe do some artwork as well. People will be praying on Passover and Easter. It is coming at about the same time this year.
Let’s pray for peace in the Middle East and the rest of the world as well. No more fires and plane crashes.
Earth day is on April 22nd. Let’s take care of our only home---- air, water, and soil are all necessities for life.
Have a Happy Holiday, do the bunny hop. And you can shape up for a swimming warm summer to come.
New York City’s program, Shape Up is throughout the city and the Elliott Center at Hudson Guild. Happy Holidays! Stay warm and be well all!
Hudson Guild. Felices fiestas! Manténguense caliente y esten bien, todos!

Reasons Why It Is Important to Eat Healthy Foods to Stay Healthy According to the USDA Overview A healthy diet is the basis for a well-functioning body. Food is the source of energy for all of our bodily functions and directly affects how our bodies and minds function in every stage of life. There are a variety of reasons why a healthy diet is important, including disease prevention, maintenance of a healthy weight and quality of life. - Energy Complex carbohydrates like whole grains, vegetables and fruits provide a balance of calories and nutrients, whereas simple carbs such as sugar and white flour are high in calories and low in nutrients, making them a poor choice for energy production - Weight Management A healthy diet helps maintain an ideal body weight and prevent obesity. When eaten frequently, foods high in saturated fat, trans fat and sugar can lead to excess weight gain and obesity. - Disease Prevention A poor diet has been directly linked with diseases such as diabetes, heart disease and certain types of cancer. Trans and saturated fats are known to cause atherosclerosis, which is a major risk factor for heart attack and stroke. - Mood and Cognition A healthy diet can lead to better overall performance of the mind and body. According to the U.S.

Participant Spotlight: Matthew Richardson
In April’s issue of Sundial, we are happy to introduce Matthew Richardson. Matthew was born in San Francisco, California, is the youngest of three siblings--- an oldest sister and a middle brother. He describes himself as fortunate to grow up in a well-educated family, with at least a college degree. Matthew would describe himself as an upper-middle class, had good property in Riverdale. He often felt left out because he was the youngest. However, a common interest in music served as a connection between him and his older brother. Matthew went to school in New York, and to college in Long Island, New Hampshire, and to another campus of the same college in England. His major in college was sociology. After college, he pursued education at a graduate school. Matthew likes working with the 55+ population. He worked on therapeutic recreation at a nursing home, and at Columbia Hospital in the engineering department—with engineers, architects, and designers. When asked about accomplishments he is proud of, Matthew reported being one of the very few people in
the world, who can proudly say that he maintained a 13-year marriage with a woman who was 47 years older than him. Matthew discovered Hudson Guild through his best friend, and greatly enjoys the library and the computer room in our center.
