How do Wind Turbines work?Wind turbines capture wind energy with their spinning blades.
Wind flows over the blades like airflowing over an aeroplane wing.
This flow of air causes a dierencein air pressure between the top and bottom of the blade, moving the bladeand making the central rotor spin.
The rotor drives a generatorthat produces energy.
At full capacity, one wind turbinecan generate 48 megawatt hours(MWh) of energy per day.
Turbines can orient themselvesby rotating the nacelle to keepfacing into the wind.
