• Channel space is 250 MHz, and could be bundled for a big pipe

(500MHz,750MHz…..)

• 1Gbps~5Gbps could be supported

Traditional band • Only 2GHz spectrum available in 18GHz.

• The largest channel space is 56 MHz.

• The largest capacity is about 470Mbps

E-band spectrum characteristics summary

1) E-band provides a wide spectrum resource : 10 GHz bandwidth available for commercial use

2) E-band provides high frequency reuse : Double freq. reuse compared to 38GHz

3) E-band propagation model is specified by ITU-R P.530-14

4) E-band has low interference propagation characteristics . Pencil Beam antennas

E-band is an an abundant and easy to manage resource E-band should be put under a “Low Cost “ license regime

Page 10: Huawei White Spaces E & V Band Technology

More than 40 countries have opened the E-band many will follow soon

Typically low cost license fee (less than 30% of traditional frequency or free of charge)

Most common regulation is the conventional link-by-link coordination made under administration’s

responsibility

In some countries (US, UK, Australia,…) the E-band is regulated with a “light-licensing” regime: self-

coordinated, first-come-first-served basis with a link register maintained by the spectrum Authority

Countries where E-band is already regulated

E Band - Frequency regulation approaches

License approach Description

Full Licensing

Opt. 1 Each Link must be submitted to NRA. NRA will check for interference and

approve/modify/reject the link.

Fee is paid on hop/year base

Opt. 2

Each operator get a spectrum portion to be used nation/region

wide.

Fee is paid on Spectrum/Year base

Light Licensing Hop planning does not require NRA approval. Each hop must be registered in a

common public register.

Unlicensed Hop planning does not require any NRA activity. Spectrum is Free of charge

Huawei recomend E-band to be “Light License” regime

The TDD mode support asymmetric traffic, satisfy

the small cell service.

RTN 360 configure the air capacity as below

TDD mode only use one channel, support

individual channels move independently, no need

to consider the high site and low site ,easy to find

the clean spectrum, and easy to avoid interference

RTN360 support automatic frequency scan and

V-band Spectrum introduction

V-Band :57GHz~64GHz, is unlicensed frequency, can lower the small cell solution cost, but

any interference condition must be examined beforehand

Oxygen absorption allows reuse of frequencies: the distance is about 300m, suitable for the

dense deployment
