Comparison About Replication Technologies Between VIS and IV Series

The replication technology adopted by the IV5600 is based on snapshot, with a high value of RPO.

To replicate the data, create a snapshot first. Creating a snapshot consumes a large number of host resources. If snapshots are created frequently, the quality of the services provided by the host is affected greatly.

Snapshot based replication is not an advanced technology, and is implemented without difficulties.

VIS IV5600

Replication technologies are adopted to implement disaster recovery for user data based on IP or FC network. Vendors adopt different replication technologies that have different work principles and mechanisms. Huawei adopts the replication technology that is advanced currently to provide lossless disaster recovery for the data of existing production systems.

The replication technology adopted by the VIS is based on dynamic I/O replication. Each I/O granularity is refined, and RPO may be equal to zero, which brings real-time replication in real sense.

The replication technology adopted by the VIS requires no support of snapshot, and the services of the host cannot be affected during the replication.

I/O-based replication requires advanced technologies, and is a development trend in the industry.
