New Components

The main components of UMTS AP Solution include:

� AP: Access Point

� AG: Access Gateway to UTRAN

� Clock server: Provide accurate clock source

� IPSec GW: Provide network security

� AHR: AP Home Register, used for AP service management � AAA: Authorization, Authentication and Accounting server


Roles of New Components

Normally the AP is located in home or office (Home device), others core NEs are

located in equipment office (Network Devices).

Different OM strategy on AP (passive+active) and core network (active) used:

• For common AP device, passive mode is used:� It is normal to be powered off at any time

� AP is individual device and has none impact on others when failed

� Only troubleshooting when necessary

• For Enterprise AP and VIP AP devices, active mode is used:� Status can be monitored in real-time

It will solve the performance issues for large number of AP management.

AP Provisioning - AP Manager

1) Generate AP Zone in AHR: AP Zone is a set of APswhich have the same MCC/MNC/LAC/RNCID

2) Activate AP Zone in APM: Configure public parameters of an AP Zone such as MCC, MNC, RNCID parameters for an AP Zone

3) Configure AP Zone in APM: Configure other parameters of an AP Zone according AP software versions, such as LAC,RAC,SAC, UARFCN, Primary Scramble Code etc.

4) Add AP in AHR (Batch): Provision an AP, input user Information, house Information

5) Configure AP in APM (Optional): Operator can batch-configure some parameters for a specific set of APs, such as for the specific software version and specific AP Zone etc.

6) Connect AP to System: AP power on, then get all necessary parameters from AHR/APM and ready into service without human being interference.
