Strong Ability to Reduce Interference
WiFi Huawei eLTE
• Common frequency shared by individuals and other
organizations, and strong interferences
• No special advanced technologies to reduce
interference
• Unstable user data rate is difficult to support video
surveillance
WiFi Solution: Weak in Anti-interference and Bad User Experiences
• Specialized frequency to avoid interference
• Advanced technologies (ICIC, IRC) to reduce
interference
• Stable user data rate is easy to monitor the container

Background
Solution
Value
Challenge • Rotterdam is one of the main ports and the
largest seaport in Europe .
• Belonging to A.P. Moller-Maersk Group,APM
Terminals is the world's largest port and
terminal operators and offers over 170
Inland Services operations in 48 countries.
• WiFi is used by APM Terminals for the ERP
production data transportation of cranes.
• The coverage of WiFi is very poor due to the
blocking of metal containers and the signal
quality of WiFi is very bad.
• The mobility of WiFi is also poor and can not
meet the movement requirement of cranes.
• 1.8G FDD LTE network is used to provide better coverage and enable better mobility.
• LTE BTSs are connected with DAS(distributed antenna system) and CPEs are installed in the
cranes to provide stable data transmission.
• Multiple services such as broadband wireless data access ,TOS business , dispatching and video
surveillance can be provided in non-line-of-sight conditions for fixed and mobile applications
• APM Terminals now has a stable broadband network no matter how the containers are changed
dynamically and how the cranes are moved.
• The production efficiency of APM Terminals is improved greatly.
• APM Terminals is also easy to extend the applications based on LTE network in the future.

Huawei eLTE : All-in-One Network and Devices for Multi-services
Yantai Port· China
Challenges: Multiple Networks, High Costs
• Analog Interphone(400MHz) : long calls setup time delay, no
dispatch function
• Narrowband Radio Modem(230MHz): Low-speed data,
difficult to upload DGPS information
• WLAN(2.4GHz): poor coverage, difficult maintenance
Solution:
• All-in-One Network and terminals for multi-services:
professional voice trunking, video Dispatch, and TOS
• One eNodeB to cover two docks, one is donglong
international dock(509m×460m), another is container
dock( 100m×400m)
• Located in the north of Shandong peninsula,
major port in China
• 76 berths and 37 deep-water berths
