Open you iManager2000 client application, and login with your account., the IP address is pointing to the OSS SERVER IP address.

After success with login proccess, this page will appear in your screen.

For collecting stats, you can go to the icon in the taskbar (Query Result).

Or you can go to a menu in Performance -> Query Result

To query performance counters, we must arrange a template to specify the counters and NE levels, also we can set the aggregation time.

Right click on your User in template explorer. Select New Query

And Query window will appear on your screen:

to setting the Object :1. select the function you need under prespective RNC in the

function browser by lowest Measeurement function level.2. Select the object you want to measure, if you want to

measure all object under an RNC, just select the RNC name and then click the “>” button to select all objects under RNC

Counter settings tab contains:

to setting the Counter :1. Select the counter required for measurement.2. click the “>” button to select counter.3. selected counter will move to the Selected counters area.

Setting aggregation Mode of the Counter :o Time mode : choose Continous Time.o Date Range : specify date of measurement.o Period : specify the measurement period.o Sort : ordering mode of the query result.

There are several option you can choose after finishing the settings

o Save Template : to save the settings, so you can just select the template in other time you want to perform measurement.

o Q uery : to show the result in Query result area.

o E xport : di directly export the result to a .csv file format in your local hard drive.

If you want to modify the template, you can right click on your template and select Attribute

If you want to copy the template, you can right click on your template and select Copy, you can paste in other user or folder with sufficient priviledge.

If you want to export the template, you can right click on your template and select Export, this is to save the template to your local Harddrive in XML file format.

Also you can directly select “Export Result” on the right click menu to direcly query the template result.

Aggregation

After we got the counter result files from exporting by counter template in previous steps, then we can apply any formula related to the measurement unit. Statistical post processing is vary in every projects to result the needed measurement objectively.

Some important things that must be paid for attention is the aggregation method. Wrong aggregation method will result a wrong measurement, and of course will result a bad analysis.

In some case , many projects may made a wrong dimensioning when they made a false aggregation methods.

For example :

Measurement using a division formula. If you are measuring Success rate or drop rate (averaging/percentage) in hour or day level, maybe you can use total per counter and then apply the formula in day level after that.

But if you are measuring such as traffic, max utilization or payload which has division formula, you must be aware, the result will be lower when you total the counter then apply the formula in higher level.

Traffic is a very reflective due to capacity dimensioning. A good strategy for this is to count the total of the traffic, not the average. In some vendor, to measure traffic they use a division formula.

You must apply the formula in lowest level than aggregate, for example :

Traffic :

Formula : Erl = a/b Counter a at 00:15:00=10 ; Counter b at

00:15:00=10Counter a at 00:30:00=5 ; Counter b at

00:30:00=7Counter a at 00:45:00=23 ; Counter b at

00:45:00=23Counter a at 01:00:00=9 ; Counter b at

01:00:00=11

Then we are going to calculate traffic in one hour: Methode X : sum each counter and apply the formula

(this is average traffic)∑ Counter a : (10 +5+23+9)= 47∑ Counter a : (10 +7+23+11)= 51Erl = a/b = 47/51= 0.92

Methode Y : apply formula in lowet level then sum the result (traffic is volume, so it must be sum to get the Total traffic)At 00:15:00 : Erl = a/b = 10/10 = 1At 00:30:00 : Erl = a/b = 5/7 = 0.71At 00:45:00 : Erl = a/b = 23/23 = 1At 01:00:00 : Erl = a/b = 9/11 = 0.81Erl for one hour = (Erl At 00:15:00) + (Erl At 00:30:00)+(Erl At 00:45:00)+(Erl At 01:00:00) =1+0.71+1+0.81= 3.52

Wow..it is almost 3.8 times bigger than the average.But you must confirm for what result are desired for this measurement, is it an average or a total traffic.

Proccessing Tools

In some very short projects, OSS engineer did apply the formula just using a simple excel sheet with pivot-grouping then chart them. This is the simplest way to get the measurement on a fly.

Other simple way is defining formulas by buiding an MS access database Query.

MS Access is a user friendy database tools, easy to develop and easy to maintain, also able to be operate in offline mode. But this tool has a limitation space (2 Gb).This may be fit for a small and short time project (<3-5 month). Fast to build and easy to maintain.

To calculate Huawei KPI using this tools is very easy.a. Import specified counter from your counter template for

specified KPI component raw counter from iManaager2000 tools.b. Import CDD file to the same database for cell attribute definition,

this is usefull for grouping by cluster, isand or by RNC.c. Import the export file into a MS Access database filed. Then make a query to apply KPI Components measurement (RRC

Success Rate, CSSR Speech, CSSR Video etc), this of course must refer to a KPI documention agreed by Operator and Vendor.

For a bigger storage and more reliable system, you can arrange more complex tools. Combining MS Sql Server, MySql, PostgreSQL or an Oracle Database with a user interface might be better solution for a long term statistical solution. Bigger capacity of database will keep every small part of measurement, so the analysis will be more accurate. Using client tools for thin server side solution can be build by Java , VB or Delphi language tools.

For a thin client solusion, web tools will delivering more satisfaction for user experience. Using Web tools will be easier for maintenance or development. For example, if a Radio firmware is updated to higher level, they must be new features or counter that might effect the formula for KPI calculation. We just need to modify the main tools in the web server , than it is done. But what if we use a desktop-base interface tools (individual user need to install a tools in their own notebook/PC). When modification is held, all the client tools must be updated and need to redistribute for reinstall/patched purpose.

Finaly it is on you and your project ‘s team decision to decide which statistic method is better to be use and what kind of system to be implemented to integrate the database for a high level and long term purpose.
