20SECONDSSLIDES:

What will your team say?

X20

Transition Year students are invited to compete against other schools in describing a topic in Psychology in an entertaining way. Teams will be supported by staff and students in the School of Applied Psychology to research and put together a presentation based on the ‘Pecha Kucha’ model, where people present an idea using 20 slides, but can only talk for 20 seconds each slide.

More information http://www.ucc.ie/en/apsych

Are you interested in psychology? Can you work in a team to put together a

fun, informative presentation?

Teams choose from topics including ‘why do some people love to be scared by horror movies?’ or ‘can high testosterone make people aggressive?’ or ‘why do people fake it on Facebook?’ or even ‘do brain training and computer games make you smarter?’

Are young people more likely to take risks than older people ? If so – why?

Can ‘online’ friendships have the same quality and support as ‘real-life’ friendships?

How does psychological stress influence the risk of developing a cold or flu?

Is romance in the heart or in the head?: the science and biology of love.

Is Roy Keane more mentally tough than everybody else? What kind of personality does it take to be a great player and captain?

Why do some people love being scared? Who watches horror films and why?
