2 IntroductionThank you forchoosing ourproduct. Please read this manual carefullybefore use to make best use of all functions of the product and toguarantee that it has a long service life. Please store the manual in asafe place for later reference.

This product is a portable digital audio playerwhich allows you to playyour MP3 and WMA tracks and make voice recordings orsave files ofany kind. The modern colour display lets you view digital pictures.

Caution

Please read the general safetyinstructions in Section 7before using the MP3 player. Pay particular attention to theinstructions on safely concluding the digital transferbetween the MP3 player and computer in Section 3.6.

The definition of keystroke actionKeystroke action including three operation methods of shortlypress,keep pressing, staypress and single press. It will mean the shortlypress without special explaining later.

Shortly press: It will go into effect once press keystroke.

Keep pressing: It will go into effect even just once only pressingkeystroke formore than 1 ... 2 second.

Stay press:The event will go into effect time after time in definitefrequency during from pressing keystroke to leaving the hand, forinstance FFand FB.

3.2 BatterystatusThe internal 3.7V batteryis rechargeable. The charge state of thebattery is indicated by various symbols to enable you to estimate howlong the player will operate. The electricityindicating decrease with theincrease of service time.

Make sure to charge the battery completely before using thedevice. An emptybattery takes approx. 3-4 hours to charge.For the first two charging cycles, you should charge thebattery for approx. 8 hours.

3.3 Using of a Micro SD cardInserting the cardTo insert the micro SDcard, look at the front of the player and hold themicro SDcard with contacts facing downwards, as shown in thediagram.

Push the card into the card slot and push the edge of the card in withyour fingernail until the card clicks audiblyinto place.

Removing the cardBrieflypress the card into the card slot once in order to release it(release is audible). Nowremove or exchange the card.

Use only micro SDcards up to 1 GB of storage. A micro SDcard is not included in the scope of delivery.

If a micro SDcard is inserted in the player and the player isconnected to a computer via USB, the computer displays twomass storage devices: the internal storage of the player andthe storage of the micro SDcard.

Do not press the card too hard into the card slot or the devicewill be damaged. The card should generally be easy to insert.Do not try to insert any other objects in the card slot.

3.4 Installing the driver Turn on the main power switch on the player (position ON). Connect the MP3 playerto your PC using the USB cable. The driver installation starts. When using Windows ME, 2000 and XP,

the PC recognizes a new hardware device (mass storage device)and automatically installs the corresponding driver.

If an error occurs during installation, remove the USB cable, restartthe operating system and reconnect the USB cable to the PC.

When using Windows 98SE, you must first install thecorrespondding driverfound on the CD-ROM beforeconnecting the MP3 player to your computer.

3.5 Load the batteryvia the USB connection

The rechargeable internal battery can be charged using the USBconnection of yourcomputer, a USB hub with its own powersupply ora USB powersupply / charger unit. Before charging the player'sbattery for the first time, completely discharge it. Then completelycharge the battery. This is the only way to gain full battery capacity.

Turn on the main power switch on the player (position ON). Connect the MP3 playerto the powersupplyusing the USB cable. Charging begins automatically. Always charge the battery completely

(see batterysymbol in the display). The player keys do not function during recharging.

The player’s batterylife is influenced byplay volume; batterylife is decreased significantly byloud playback. The batterylife maychange depending on the file type played and howoften the buttons are used.

Use the powersaving functions to automaticallyshut off thedisplay and the player (Section 4.8).

3.6 Transferring files MP3 player - PC Connect the MP3 playerto your PC using the supplied USB cable. Open the Windows Exploreror double-click My Computer. Select folders or files to be transferred and drag them to the

removable data storage symbol of the MP3 player (download to rootdirectory). It is possible to create different folders for theclassification of your file types in the playermemory beforehand andthen to save the relevant files to them.

Once the transmission is complete, click the MP3 playersymbol andcheckwhether the files were completelycopied.

Following the same procedure, you can also copy files from the MP3playerto the PC(upload).

If a micro SDcard is inserted in the player and the player isconnected to a computer via USB, the computer displays twomass storage devices: the internal storage of the player andthe storage of the micro SDcard.

You can also use your MP3 player to transport all types offiles.

Neverdisconnect the USB cable from your MP3 playerduringa data transferor formatting.

Keep in mind that the main directory of the playercan hold amaximum of 150 entries (folders and files).To manage moredata, create subfolders as appropriate. Youcan store asmany files as desired in these subfolders.

Formatting the Flash Memory

Using the PC operating system:Open Windows Explorer and right click on the player’s removable datastorage symbol. Then clickon the Format option in the context menu.

3.7 Disable the MP3 Player from the PC

Disable the digital MP3 player from the operating system correctlyusing the “Remove Hardware Safely”option .

Clickthe taskbaron the right-hand side below the symbol andselect the “Remove USB Mass Storage Device –Drive (X:)”in thefollowing dialog window.

Then the message nowappears that the hardware can be removed.

When using Windows 98SE, does not appear in the taskbar. Once the data has been completely transferred, simplyremove the USB cable.

4 Operation4.1 Switching the MP3 player on and off

Switching the MP3 player on Turn on the main power switch on the player (position ON). Hold down the Play button for approximately one second until the

buttons light up and a greeting appears on the display. The displaynowshows the main menu.

If the device does not turn on, please load the battery using the USBconnection.

Keep in mind that the playerneeds some time after thebuttons light up before the main menu appears on thedisplay.

Mode switch inthe main menu

Use the main menu to access the variousoperation modes and player settings:Music, Photo, E-book, Record,Explorer, Game and Settings.

Use the /buttons to select thedesired option and confirm using themenu button.

To revert to the main menu, press themenu button forapprox. 1 second.

Switching the MP3 player offPress and hold the Play button forapproximately three seconds untilthe Displayillumination deactivates. This is true irrespective of thecurrent operating state of the player.

The playeris now in standby mode, which still uses a smallamount of energy. Only use the standby function forshortshutdown periods to avoid unnecessarilydraining thebattery.

Turn off the main power switch (OFF) to shut down theplayercompletely.

Lock functionYou can blockall buttons of your MP3 player to prevent accidentaloperation (Music and Voice mode).

Activate button lock: Press the Vol-buttonand the play button simultaneously. Asmall lock symbol appears in the upper partof the display (music mode).

Deactivate button lock: Repeat this buttoncombination to deactivate the button lock.

Keep in mind that the playeris write-protected when buttonlock is active (cannot save data).

ResetIf an error occurs, you can reset the player and restart it by turning themain switch off and on again (ON/OFF).

4.2 Music mode

Overview of the Display

The Displayshows a varietyof information on the current track, therunning time and the system settings.The symbols are explainedbelow.

Playback, forwards/back, pause, stop

Insert the headphone in the headphone connection and turn the playeron. Select music mode in the main menu and confirm with the menubutton.

Press the Play button to play the trackshowed. The trackinformation is scrolled on the Display.

To switch between the file name and ID3 tag, press andhold the Vol key for approximately2 seconds.

Press the Play button brieflyto pause playback. To resume play,press the Play button again (resume function).

Press and hold the /buttons during play to skip forwards or backwithin the track .

If you brieflypress the/ buttons during play, pause orstop thedisplayswitches to the next orprevious track respectively.

Setting thev olumePress Vol (Shortly press )( 27 ) and then/ to increase/decreasethe volume. Confirm using the Vol button again.

Lyrics function

Yourplayer supports synchronous lyric display when playing MP3 files.The file name of the separate lyric files (*.lrc) must coincide with thefile name of the relevant mp3 file (*.mp3)and the lyric file must be inthe same folder.

A/B repeat (Replay)This function allows you to repeat a specific section of a music file bysetting the starting and finishing point of the section during playback.

Brieflypress the VOL key ( 27 ) . Brieflypress the Menu button during playback to mark the

beginning A of the section ( ). Briefly press the Menubutton again during playback to mark the end

B of the desired section ( ). The selected section will now be repeated indefinitely until you press

the Menu buttonagain.

Deleting files on yourplayeris described in Section 4.7. Youcan also delete files orfolders using yourcomputer’s filemanager when the MP3 player is connected to the PC viathe USB connection.

4.3 Photo mode

Implement to browse the JPEGpicture and to supportthe format of JPEG in common use.

Use the /buttons to select the photo mode inthe main menu and confirm using themenu button.

The display will nowshowthe player’sfolders and image files (browserscreen). Ifthere are no visible files then the playermemory is empty.

Use/ to navigate through the folderstructure and search for the desired file.Press the menubutton to open a folder.Push the Vol button to leave a folder.

Confirm using the menu button again toselect and play the desired picture file.

Brieflypress the/ buttons to switch to thenext orto the previous image.

Brieflypress the menu button to return to thebrowserscreen.

To revert to the main menu, press the menubutton for approx. 1 second.

The desired image file should ideally be of the 160 x128pixel format. Other dimensions and pixel numbers are alsopossible.The pictures will then not fill the entire display.Deleting files on yourplayeris described in Section 4.7.

4.4 Text modeImplement to support text in the format ofTXT.

Use the /buttons to select the Text mode in themain menu and confirm using the menu button.

Text files can be selected and displayed in the sameway as photos in photo mode.

Brieflypress the menu button to return to thebrowserscreen. To revert to the main menu, press the menubuttonfor approx. 1 second.

4.5 Digital audio recording (Voice mode)Your MP3 playercan also be used as a digitaldictaphone.This allows you to record important ideasor thoughts when awayfrom home.

Use the /buttons to select the Voice mode in the main menuand confirm using the menu button.

Briefly press the Play button to start voice recording and speakintothe microphone on the top of the player.

Press the Play button to interrupt voice recording. Press the Playbutton again to resume voice recording.

Press the menubutton forapprox. 1 second to stop and save voicerecording. The main menu is displayed again.

The recorded files are stored in WAV format in the„VOICE“folder. Do not save any MP3 orWMA files here.

Voice playback If the playeris in anothermode, you can play your recording by

switching to music mode via the main menu (as described above). Press the menubutton to open the browserscreen.

Navigate to the internal storage and open the “VOICE”folder. Youcan select the desired file using/ and play it with the menubutton.

To revert to the main menu, press the menu buttonagain forapprox.1 second.

Deleting files on yourplayeris described in Section 4.7. Youcan also delete files orfolders using yourcomputer’s filemanager when the MP3 player is connected to the PC viathe USB connection.

4.6 Game mode

Use the /buttons to select the Game mode inthe main menu and confirm using the menu button.

Brieflypress the PLAY key. Move the block to the left or right using /. Rotate the blocks with M and set them down with Vol. To revert to the main menu, brieflypress the PLAY key (pause).

4.7 Direct data access (Explorer)

In the Explorermode you can directly delete orplayback files saved on your MP3 player.

Use the /buttons to select the Explorermode inthe main menu and confirm using the menu button.

Use/ to navigate through the folder structure and search for thefile to be deleted or played. Select the internal storage orthe microSDcard. Press the menubutton to open a folder.

You can also use the Vol-button (Shortly press) to switch to the nextfolder level.

Brieflypress the menu button to play a selected file. Using the Vol button (Keep pressing) and/, you can now delete

the marked file (Yes)or terminated the dialogue (No). Confirm usingthe menu button.

You can also delete files or folders using yourcomputer’s filemanager when the MP3 player is connected to the PC viathe USB connection.

Data on the micro SDcard can only be accessed when thecard is in the card slot.

4.8 System settings (Settings)

The mode Settings allows you to change importantsystem settings for your MP3 player.

Use the /buttons to select the Settings mode inthe main menu and confirm using the menu button. The settingsmenu contains the sub-menu for the AutoBrowse, Display, Record,System, PowerOFF and Language. Use the /buttons to selectthe relevant sub-menu and confirm using the menu button.

Equalizer settings (EQ) Briefly press menu button to switch to the EQsub-menu. Use/ to select the desired mode (Normal, 3D, Rock, Pop,

Classic, Bass, Jazz, UserEQ). Confirm using the menu buttonagain.

b) Record settingsRecording Quality (RECQuality)Adjust the desired bit rate forthe Voice Recording

High Quality: Records the source in good quality (64 kbps).General Quality: Records the source in average quality (32 kbps).

Volume of the recording (REC Volume)Adjust the desired volume for the Recording.

Note that incorrect volume settings can disrupt the incomingsignal.

c) Auto PlaySetTextSet how long it should take before the next page in text mode is shown(2 - 10 seconds).

d) DisplaysettingsAutomatic shutdown of the display (Backlight Time)This allows you to set whether the displayis to remain on after abutton is pressed and how long it stays on: 5 s, 10 s, 20 s, 30 s and“Always On”. The „Always On“setting sets the display to remain on.

BrightnessAllows you to set the required display brightness (5 levels).

Use this option to reset the device settings to theirdefaults (factorysettings).

Use the /buttons to select „Yes“or „No“and confirm using themenu button.

By selecting Yes, you reset the device to the factorysettings- by selecting „No“you cancel the dialogue.

f) Automatic shutdown (PowerOFF Time)The automatic shutdown switches off the unit to save energyif duringthe term of the given limit (unit: minutes) no button is pressed. Youcan also use this function as a sleep timer.

Select from the following values:10 min., 15 min., 30 min., 120 min., and Off (standard).

Confirm using the menu button.

4.9 Upgrade player (Firmware upgrade)

You may upgrade ormaintain the system firmware for this playerbythe tool software that installed in computer.

Install the provided Firmware upgrade tool. Enable the upgrade via the corresponding option in system settings

(see Section 4.8 System-Settings). Connect the MP3 playerto your PC using the USB cable. Execute the upgrade tool forthe MP3 player on the computer. Click

on the “Open”button and select the correct firmware file. Click on “Update”and begin the firmware update. Now remove the USB cable.

The firmware upgrade is used in improving and optimizingthe performance of player. And it does not affect the normalrun of the playerwithout the firmware upgrade.

The firmware upgrade will possibly lead to the abnormalworking due to the mistake operation! So please read theinstruction carefully before operating.The firmware upgrade software of the player is not suitablefor otherseries players, vice versa. Onlyuse additionalupdate files from our website www.odys.de.If no firmware updates are available on the website, then noupdates are needed for yourdevice. The warrantyis void ifyou use unsupported firmware versions.A firmware update is only required if the device is no longerworking and the software errorcausing the problem needs tobe repaired.

7 Safety instructionsAlthough this product is safe, please observe the following informationand warnings.

Do not expose the device to direct sunlight, extreme heator cold, damp ordustyconditions. Malfunctions anddamage and can occur as a result..

Do not use the device in an extremelydry environment toavoid static electricity.

Do not shake the device orsubject it to hard knocks.Thedevice maybe damaged if it falls. Do not place any heavyobjects on top of the device.

Promptly load the device’s internal battery. Do not use the MP3 playerwhile driving a vehicle. Never press two buttons simultaneouslyand handle the

displaycarefully. Do not carry the MP3 playerwith othermetal objects

(coins or keys) in your pocket. Clean the device only using a soft, dry cloth and do not

use any volatile substances, such as solvents, to avoiddamaging the surface.

Do not open the casing of the device underanycircumstances, and do not attempt to repairor modify thedevice.

Never disconnect the USB cable from your MP3 player tothe PCduring a data transfer or formatting. Correctlydisconnect the MP3 player from the operating system.Information loss and malfunctions can occur.

Warranty conditions EN

The following conditions comprise the requirements and scope ofour warranty conditionsand do notaffectour legal and contractual warranty obligations.

We offer a warranty on ourproductsin accordance with the followingconditions:

1. Odys products are covered by a 24 month warranty.We will resolve damages ordefects on Odys products free of charge within 12 months of the purchase dateunder the following warranty conditions. For any damage or defect determinedlater than 12 months after the purchase date,proofofa manufacturing fault mustbe submitted for repair under warranty.The warranty does not cover batteries and other parts, which are consideredconsumables,parts thatbreak easily such as glass or plastic or defects based onnormal wear and tear. There is no warranty obligation in the event of marginaldifferences compared to the targetappearance and workmanship provided thesehave a negligible effect on the product's fitness for use, in the event of damagecaused by chemical or electrochemical effects, by water or generally fromabnormal conditions.

2. The warranty will be performed in such a way that we shall decide whether torepair the defective parts or to replace them with working parts free of charge.AXDIA reserves the right to exchange the product for a replacement product ofequal value if the product that is sent in cannot be repaired within a reasonabletime or at reasonable cost. The product can also be exchanged for a differentmodel of the same value.Requests cannotbe made for repairs to be carried outon site.Parts thathave been replaced or exchanged become our property.

3. The warranty claim does not apply if repairs or other work is carried out byunauthorized persons or if our products are equipped with additional parts oraccessories thatare notapproved for our products.

4. Warranties that have been activated do not cause the warranty period to beextended,nor do they trigger a new warranty period.The warranty period for anyreplacementparts installed ends with the warranty period for the entire product.

5. Any other or further claims are excluded,especially those for replacementdue todamage caused outside of the product, provided there is no obligatory legalliability . We therefore accept no liability for accidental, indirect or otherconsequential damage of any kind, which leads to usage restrictions, data loss,loss ofearnings or interruption to business.

Asserting a warranty claim

1. To make use of the warranty service,you mustcontact the AXDIA Service Centerby e-mail, fax or phone (see below for contact details). You can also use theservice form on our website or on the back of the warranty conditions.

2. AXDIA Service Center will try to diagnose and solve your problem. If it isdetermined that a warranty claim exists, you will be given an RM A number(Return Material Authorization) and you will be asked to send the product toAXDIA.

IMPORTANT: AXDIA will only accept parcels that have an RMA number.

Please observe the following when sending the product:

1. Send the product suitably packaged with carriage and insurance paid. Do notenclose any accessories with the products (no cables, CD's, memory cards,manuals,etc.),unless the AXDIAService Centre specifies otherwise.

2. Mark the RMA number on the outside of the package in such a way that it isv is ible and clearly legible.

3. You mustenclose a copy of the sales slip as proofofpurchase.4. Once AXDIA has received the product, it will meet its warranty obligations in

accordance with the warranty conditions and will return the product to the senderwith carriage and insurance paid.

Service outside of warranty

AXDIAcan refuse any service claim made that is notcovered by the warranty. IfAXDIAagrees to provide a service outside the warranty, the customer will be invoiced for all repairand transportcosts.AXDIAwill not acceptany packages thathave not firstbeen approved by AXDIAby meansofan RMA(Return Material Authorization).
