Who is the Treble Choir’s Director?

Marianna Parnas-Simpson graduated with a masters degree in choral conducting and music education from the Rymsky-Korsakov State Conservatory, St.Petersburg, Russia.

In 1979 Mrs. Parnas-Simpson founded the award winning St. Petersburg Girls Choir “Kamerton”, which she directed for ten years before coming to the United States in 1990.

In 1999 she joined the faculty of Parker Elementary School, a Houston ISD Magnet School for music. Starting with 30 students Mrs. Simpson now has over 280 children involved in the choral program, and in 2002 Parker Elementary received a National Grammy Award.

Mrs. Simpson has conducted numerous children’s chorus festivals

and workshops and is a founding member of the Houston Chamber Choir She was recently appointed to serve as a music director of the summer program of the American Boy Choir in Princeton, NJ. She

is married to Robert Simpson, Choirmaster and Organist at Christ

Church Cathedral.

Treble Choir

FAQsWhen is the choir available to perform?The Choir performs from September through early June. The summer months coincide with the children’s summer vacation, making it difficult to gather the choir together.

How can I hear the choir perform?A sample CD of choir wedding selections performed by the Treble is available for your convenience. Contact Robert Simpson at 713-590-3311 to receive a copy.

How about collaborations with other musicians such as string quartets, harpists, or brass ensembles?The Treble Choir is comfortable performing with other musical groups, however, please consult with the organist who will be playing your wedding before making any plans for additional music or musicians.

What is the choir’s performance attire?The choir wears traditional red and white church vestments. They carry matching music binders with gold print logos on the front. For the ceremonies other than formal church weddings, the choir wears white formal shirts and black pants/skirts.
