Food For Thought
“To give life to beauty, the painter uses a whole range of colours, musician of sounds, the cook of tastes – and
indeed remarkable that there are seven colours, seven musical notes and seven tastes.”
Lucien Tendrant (1825 -1896)

What to look out for this term
This term we are proud to present our
new menu, which includes some new dishes along with the favourites.
In September, October and November
we are focusing on hydration, and the need to drink water/fluids on a regular basis.
„Time for a bite‟ is to show that Sodexo supports sustainable procurement and
cares for the environment. British food fortnight is in its 8th year and goes from strength to strength highlighting all that
is great about buying and cooking foods from around the country.
We will have some extra spicy dishes
for you to celebrate the Hindu Festival of Diwali.
Finally we end the term with Christmas
celebrations and a selection of your favourite Christmas foods – turkey and stuffing, Christmas pudding and mince
pies and Mulled Wine. There are also plenty of old favourite
themes to look out for as well as those
with a bit of fun. We hope you enjoy what we have to offer this term and
look forward to seeing you in the Dining
Room.
What is a Balanced Diet?
A balanced diet is an important part of living a healthy lifestyle – we truly are what we eat!
The general principles of a balanced diet are:-
1. Eat a variety of different foods every day.
2. Eat plenty of foods rich in
starch and fibre, such as breads, cereals, potatoes, pasta and rice.
3. Eat lots of fruit and vegetables – at least 5 portions a day.
4. Eat 2 servings of protein each
day, such as fish, meat or vegetarian alternatives like beans and pulses
5. Include milk and dairy products a couple of times a day.
6. DO NOT eat large amounts of
food which contain high levels of fat, salt or sugar.
Finally, remember to enjoy your food. There are no unhealthy foods, but
there are unhealthy diets!
What is Feedlife?
The Feedlife concept is centred firmly
on the association between
customer‟s nutritional intake and how diet leads to a healthy lifestyle. We
live in a time where we as individuals
are more aware of our diets and the associated benefits and risks to our health. We live in a country where
leaders of government, academic institutions and parents are
championing the case for balanced
diets. Feedlife has a process of
“Refresh & Renew”.
All the Sodexo team is committed to the quality of daily life, so look out for
new and exciting changes throughout the year ahead.
Sodexo would like to welcome both
new and old pupils back to Altrincham Grammar School for Boys.
We would like to take this opportunity
in wishing you all good luck in all your studies and activities, and look
forward to seeing you throughout the
year
