Please visit our website www.hssc808.wordpress.com Thank you for your continued support of HSSC! A Message from the HSSC Advisor Aloha, On behalf of the Hawaii State Student Council I would like to personally welcome you to the 44 th year of the Hawaii State Student Council. Each year new members from across the state come to share ideas, voice their opinion and learn from each other. I am continually humbled by the commitment and dedication demonstrated by our members to make a difference in their communities. Last year we took on many challenges both within and outside of our schools by assisting in the review of student and program related Board of Education policies, the Seal of Biliteracy, transgender issues, promotion of the new science standards and C3 Framework for social studies along with participating in the activities of the Hawaii Every Student Succeeds Act Board and summit. In addition, the council hosted its’ annual Student Leadership Conference to bring together leaders from our middle and high schools and held the Secondary Student Conference to encourage legislative participation and learning. I am looking forward to another busy year filled with tremendous opportunities for our student voices to be heard. We are already working with our state school leadership to provide feedback as they work to prepare the State Department of Education Strategic Plan. This guide will provide the foundation for administrators, teachers, students, parents and other stakeholders as we move towards continued success. It is an exciting time so get involved so participate and have your voices heard. I look forward to working together to promote excellence in school and state council leadership. I wish you all the best for an amazing 2016-2017 school year.
