    Supplementary HSS Tables

    The tables on the following pages provide detailing dimensions and engineering properties of larger-

    size Hollow Structural Sections (HSS) produced by Copperweld Canada but not included in the CISC

    Handbook of Steel Construction, 8thEdition, 2004.

    Steel Grades

    The rectangular and square HSS included in the tables are produced by Copperweld Canada in the

    following steel grades: CSA G40.20/G40.21-350W and ASTM A500. All shapes listed are generally

    available in both G40.20 and A500, except for those with a nominal wall thickness of 16 mm, which

    are only available in A500.

    Dimensions and Properties

    Section dimensions and properties of HSS produced to CSA G40.20 are based on the nominal wall

    thickness. This is the thickness which, when rounded, forms the third term of the section designation.

    With the exception of the mass and dead load, dimensions and properties of HSS produced to ASTM

    A500 are based on the design wall thickness, taken equal to 0.90 times the nominal wall thickness.
