Hi members,
Yes its another magazine, well maybe more of a supplementary magazine due to two important things which are happening. The first is the requirements of the Club to manage and record all vehicles where our club members have HSCCV supported Club Permits—sadly this has come about due to some dodgy practices and du-bious vehicles appearing with H plates, and having seen some vehicles in regular daily use during the course of a year, plus a few commercial vehicles obviously being used for business (a bit hard to ignore a 5 ton furniture van on a permit being loaded up outside a house, emblazoned with the name of a re-movalist), its not a real surprise. The changes also bring a new M plate for modified vehicles, which is intended to ensure we don’t keep seeing highly modded vehicles on H permits—like the tubbed, caged, blown XT Falcon I saw recently on Ferntree Gully Rd, complete with 3.5 inch rims on the front, semi slicks on the back, and best of all a chute…..and on an H plate. Phil has more on this further on, including what you must do if you have a permit car through this club. Don’t ignore it—inaction will result in your next permit renewal being returned without the club sign-off. Also note the requirements for participation in club activities for permit holders—I don’t think we have anyone taking a free ride with this club to get a permit, so you should appreciate that some clubs have found they have members that no-one has ever seen...with a permit car. Next, we have a general meeting coming up on the Wed 22nd, at Troys Shed in Mordialloc. Troy has an awesome collection of cars, parts of cars, interesting stuff, and you’d be a sorry person if you can’t get there on the night—all being well, the club BBQ will be sizzling sausages and frying onions, so make the effort especially if you’re a permit car member, and want to ask questions or get clarification on the differences between H and M, and what an M plate requires for certification—you do need to be across this, as members in another club I belong to have already had H plated cars pulled over and inspected by VicPol during cruise events, and issued with canaries pending engineering certs and M plate permits being obtained (don’t go to Frankston with a modded car is the general advice!). So hope to see you there, see Geoffs report for more details. Social drives—we are planning a cruise to Flynns Winery, Heathcote, tentative date is Sunday Sept 27—we’ve been there before, there’s some great roads, followed by lunch and a wine tasting. Details next mag., but keep the date open, and have those H plate cars ready to go! Finally, given this the mag you have when normally you wouldn’t be getting a mag, there’s some re-ports MIA, as the Prez and VP are away doing track preparation for the PI 6Hrs next month—if you can get down there to support the team, Aug 1 & 2, help them on the day, man the BBQ, allow them to take parts off your daily driver to keep the race cars rolling — please do! More in the Mr. Ed section, Cheers Kim
Good Heavens! Its another magazine!! The Editor

However— far more important is I got to sign my new book, “The Importance of Financial Veracity when building a Malvern Star Chopper” for a happy customer—OK, my only customer, but HEY, he’s not a relative!! - at my book signing event at the pop-up bookshop I created at Eastland—until security moved me on. But how good is this: Me and Mark Webber!!—apparently he loves my work! (OK, I love his work, my book’s still only got as far as Chapter One, Choose Your Frame, but …..seriously—HOW GOOD WAS THIS!!) See you at the next meeting, Kris (I’m never washing my left arm again) Lethborg (some minor editorial freedoms have been exercised in this report—Mr Ed)

Up coming social & special events Trafalgar Car Museum Run What a great day - weather was great; also no rain in sight. We all met at the Hallam Hotel. A great col-lection of cars – Commodores, Toranas, VL, HR, EH. In total there were 28 people. We all drove to the Trafalgar Car Museum; just an hours drive. The Holden collection there was excellent. There were cars on display from FX to late Commodores and most were owned by one person. All were in excellent con-dition. There also was a theaterette; working models on display; motors; gearboxes; suspensions. After 1 hour looking around, we all headed off to lunch at the local pub. The meals were worth the wait and well priced. After lunch we headed home. A great day had by all.

A few pics from the Club run to the Trafalgar Holden Museum, it was a great day!
Custom bodies include the FJ Rag-top and a rare Station Sedan; the HR hearse no doubt provided a last ride for many former Holden enthusiasts!
Lunch at the pub, really good food and reasonably priced, nobody left hungry!
Its not just cars—other exhibits include associated industries, such as Frigidaire kitchen appliances made by GM for Aussie home makers, and the ubiqui-tous Victa mower.

The New Permit Scheme—VicRoad and HSCCV Requirements
A new club permit scheme has been brought in by Vicroads to tighten up the regulations and ensure the scheme is not rorted. The main changes are: •When signing new club permit applications, club safety officers/scrutineers will be required to complete a Vehicle Eligibility and Standards Declaration form declaring that the vehicle is eligible, safe for use on the road and that it meets the applicable requirements for the category of vehicle for which the club per-mit is sought. •Initial club permit applications (not renewals) for vehicles manufactured after 31 December 1948 will need to be accompanied by a current certificate of roadworthiness. •Initial club permit applications (not renewals) will need to be accompanied with a document of proof of ownership or management of the vehicle. •For pre-1949 vehicles, clubs will continue to conduct their own safety inspection (which may be a cer-tificate of roadworthiness or a club safety inspection based on VicRoads’ guidelines). •New modification guidelines specified in the Guidelines for modifications to vehicles operated under Victoria’s Club Permit – Vehicle Standards Information No. 33 (VSI33) [PDF 296 kb] apply. •If an initial club permit application is submitted for a vehicle that is modified outside of the appropriate modification guidelines, a Vehicle Assessment Signatory Scheme (VASS) approval certificate covering the modifications must be provided with the permit application. •An “M” club permit plate will be issued to identify modified vehicles where a VASS certificate has been provided. Clubs are required to maintain dated photographs of vehicles entering the club permit scheme in accor-dance with the new Club Permit Agreement.
Photos for Club Records
The photos that are required when applying for Club Permit and renewing club permit are as follows: 1. Photo of the front view 2. Photo of the rear view 3. Photo of the driver’s side view 4. Photo of the VIN, engine number or Chassis number 5. Drivers view of the car showing the steering and dash Photos may be digital but must be dated. Photos are required immediately for new permits and for renewals from September 1st 2015.

The New Permit Scheme—VicRoad and HSCCV Requirements
Requirements of Club Permit Holders
The committee have decided that all club permit holders must adhere to the following conditions before their permit will be renewed: Must attend at least one competition event as an official/helper or nominate a friend/family member to help. Committee members are exempt. Must attend one club meeting. Must present car at one event or meeting. Must attend the AGM or present an apology. Must fill in a Club Permit Register Form when requested by the club. As well as these requirements permit holders must obey all Vicroads regulations as found on the Vicroads website. They must keep their vehicles in a safe condition and all modifications must be within the guidelines. Phil Slater, Secretary HSCC
As we’ve had a lot of changes to the Club Permit Scheme thanks to the rorters. So please read the infor-mation in this mag to make sure that you meet your responsibilities otherwise you could have your permit cancelled by Vicroads or your renewal declined by the club. The good news is that Bruce, Ron and Kris
can also sign renewal forms as well as myself.
Our Sandown sprint is coming up soon and this is an excellent chance to help out and fulfil your require-
ments. Troy’s shed is also an excellent club meeting to attend.

Its all a bit of a sagaCC...still Well since the last fish wrapping exercise in journalistic excesses the other month, there’s been another road trip undertaken, in this case to Adelaide to pick up door trims and a new dash pad for the HQ. Yes, they could have come via AusPost, or a Courier (all care, no responsibility) however recent experi-ences with lost/damaged/sent to Melbourne, Florida parcels have made me a bit gun shy, so with Peter Stewart we did the “hit the road again , I’ve supplied the 32G of music on a stick so sing along if you know the words” road trip. Taking the view that road trips should be both educational, and nourish the soul through provision of fine wine and dining, we didn’t hurry...after a splendiferous overnight repast in Barossa, next day we headed for Birdswood National Motor Museum and had a pleasant morning looking at the cars, bikes, and other exhibits on show; then after a lunch at the local bakery, noting there was a residence—with shed—up for lease next door to the museum (my immediate plans for this have already been corrected by the Financial Administrator at home), we headed to Adelaide proper, to collect parts from DashOriginal, in Holden Hill. We had a bit of a wait as the last parts were finished and packed, which gave us time to have a look at the work they undertake which ranges from small trim pieces, to full car restos….quite impressed by the work they can undertake, including vacuum forming and replication of trim components.
So with a new HQ dash pad (not a re-skinned original, but a complete new moulding) and door trims, we headed next for—more fine wining and dining! Next day we went through Hamilton, home to the Ansett Transport Museum—another reminder of the lost Golden Age of Australian Aviation, and also with a family connection for me, as my mum worked with Reg Ansett immediately after WW2, setting up accountancy systems which survived for years. Unfortunately its housed in a tin shed, and the temperature inside and out was near zero….another visit in warmer months will be on the calendar. cheers! Kim.
Editors report — Kim McConchie
At Dash Original—Torana LC door trims; a Dodge Skylark wagon having a total restoration; HQ Monaro coupe seats to go.
At NMM—Hey Charger; Waggott Twin Cam Holden grey motor, Lightburn Zetas, .Ferrari Testarossa, my favourite truck.

One of the mandatory reads in the Editors free time (ha! there’s a concept that’s seldom been realised!) is Just Holdens magazine, and having visited the facilities and CarGoodies Shop in Bundoora and met Eric Norton, the Editor and publisher of the magazine, made me even more aware of how important enthusi-asts are for maintaining the history and the stories that go with our cars, as well as the cars themselves. I am hoping that, as a club, we can have more interaction with people like Eric, and will be seeing what we can organise to give club members the chance to meet with them in the future—as with the Trafalgar visit, there’s a lot of people who love cars, and have great stories to share, be it motorsport, car history, or fabulous collections. As a club, we were truly blessed to have Harry Firth and Peter Brock as Foundation Members, and to have some of their peer members, such as Ivan Okey, still able to share those times with us. So if you haven’t picked it up yet, here’s some Just Holdens current edition!
By The WayC...a bit more from the Ed.
