A Letter From Pastor Lerum
April showers bring… miracles. I know. The old joke goes
like this.
“April showers bring Mayflowers. What do Mayflowers
bring?” “PILGRIMS.”
But this is April of 2019; not November of 1621. And “Yes,”
I also know that the first Thanksgiving was not what it has become today. Now that we
have all of that cleared up, let us talk about April 2019. Why are we having this conversa-
tion in April instead of November? What does that Thanksgiving have to do with us? And
what does it have to do with now?
EVERYTHING!
There should actually be a dedicated time of thanksgiving in the month of Easter because
there is nothing that we are more thankful for than what God did for us and all of human-
kind at Easter. What He did climaxes on Resurrection / Easter Sunday. However, what
God did before that is significant.
All God did was paint a large mural across history that began with Adam and Eve and the
first promise of the Messiah made to them; a promise that was reiterated throughout the
Old Testament as it was repeated in many and varied ways through the likes of Abraham,
Moses, Ruth and King David. It was heard also through prophets like Isaiah, Jeremiah,
Elijah, Daniel and Ezekiel.
God’s promise of the Savior is fulfilled and comes through loud and clear in the New Tes-
tament. A baby is born in a stable; Immanuel, for “He will save the people from their sin.”

He grows up and lives the most prolific ministry in all history, before or since. Jesus’ teach-
ing and miracles drew crowds wherever he went. He not only attracted those who wanted to
see more or be healed themselves, He also attracted those who were only interested in putting
a stop to everything he did. And stop Him is exactly what they thought they had done.
The Jewish leaders thought they had Him stopped when He was arrested in the Garden and
hauled away to be tried by Caiaphas the High Priest, King Herod, and Pontius Pilate. They
thought Jesus was finished for good when they saw him hanging on the cross. They thought
he was finished when He shouted from the cross, “IT IS FINISHED.”
Jesus was only getting started because the best was yet to come. And the best is where our
Thanksgiving begins. The best is when Jesus is raised from the dead, thumbs His nose
(pardon the expression) at Satan and says in the words of the Apostle Paul,
“Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?” The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Corinthians 15:55-57 Happy Thanksgiving at the Resurrection!

Christ the Victor Choir rehearses Wednesday, April 3 & 10, and Thursday, April 17 at 5PM. Danielle Cooke and Nancy Mitchell are ready to lead us in our music worship. Please feel free to join our musical ministry.
Quilters will meet on Thursday, April 11 at 11:15am—3pm in the Food Bank area. Our Fidget Quilts for Alzheimer’s patients are almost completed. The new wall hanging for our sanctuary has been installed and dedicated just in time for our Easter season. We wel-come anyone to join us. Your company will always be welcomed!
Crafters Are Us will meet 1pm—3:30pm on Monday, April 8. Crafters are encouraged to join us with a craft of your choice. This is a great way to meet others in our church. We will also meet May 13 from 1:00-3:30. It is time to complete your projects for Club 66’s, (our Sunday School) Spring Fling Craft & Bake Sale. Set up for the sale will be Friday, April 5 from 8am to 10am. We cannot wait to see your creations!
Victor’s Men meets Monday, April 15 at 9am Join us the 3RD MONDAY of the month as we work on our campus. You bring the elbow
grease (tools if you want to) and we’ll provide the coffee and goodies. Hoping to see you as
we work together to beautify God’s property. Thank you for your hard work in March re-
pairing outdoor signage, pruning trees, and preparing the sunscreens to be put on for sum-
mer.
Easter Egg Hunt Our yearly Easter Egg Hunt will be Saturday, April 13, 10am to noon.
This will be an exciting time with games, crafts, and of course, the Easter egg
hunt. If you are donating individually wrapped candy for the egg hunt,
please bring them to Club 66 no later than Sunday, April 7.

Donald Ray Beck
Don Beck went to be with his Lord and Savior on February 13, 2019. He was born on March 23, 1927 in Stevensville, Montana. Don along with his first wife, Nellie were one of our the first members of Christ the Victor Lutheran Church. Don is survived by his wife Doris, his 3 children and spouses, along with 5 grandchildren, 10 great grandchil-dren, and 1 great-great grandson.

Memorial donations for Easter lilies can be left in the Nook. Envelopes are pro-vided for your $10 donation. Let’s adorn our sanctuary and remember your loved ones. Cost is $10. We en-courage you to take your plant home af-ter our final service on Easter Sunday.

Fair and Bake Sale It is crunch time! Now is the time to finish assembling your crafts for this new event presented by Club 66, Sat-urday, April 6 10am to 2pm. Set up will be Friday, 8am to 10am. Please bring your priced pieces in at that time.
Hand-made crafts, fresh and tasty baked goods along with a few surprises are sure to delight your senses. Mark your calendar for this great event, as the children AGAIN lead the way in growing and con-tributing to our Capital Campaign.. Come one and come all to this special event! REMEMBER!!! The date and time is set for our summer VBS. June 10-13, 5:30-7:30pm. All children Pre-K through 4th grade are welcome. There will be snacks, crafts, games, music, and story time.

CLUB 66 NEWS
Wow!! April is going to be a month full of activities for Club 66. April 6-The Spring Fling Craft and Bake Sale 10am-2pm April 7- First Communion Class-final day April 9- Barros Pizza in Copper Basin-Club 66 Fundraiser 10am-10:30pm April 13- Easter Egg Hunt, games, crafts and of course prizes 10am-noon April 14- Palm Sunday Celebration: The children will sing at the end of 8:00 service and the beginning of 9:30 service. * April 18- Maundy Thursday. Our First Communion class will be at this service for the washing of the feet. They will receive their first communion. What an exciting way to walk toward Res-urrection Day! April 21- Our Easter Celebration: Special class and a special treat. Club 66 will sing at the end of the 8am service and the beginning of the 9:30am service. * April 28- Breakfast during Club 66 as we celebrate Jesus on the road to Emmaus. *FYI parents for Palm Sunday and Easter ...As always have the children at church by 8:40 to practice and line up. Please keep all our special events during this busy month in your prayers. Question for April- What does the word Easter mean? Thank you to all who worked so hard on crafts and who donated food items to our bake sale and hotdog lunch. We pray Gods blessings on our biggest event for the Capital Campaign. Greetings, Stewardship is a word commonly used within the Church. Stewardship can best be defined as behaving responsibly with something you have been given. It entails diligently seeking the best uses for the resources with which you’ve been entrusted. Whether it be money, time or talents, a stewardship campaign calls on members of a congregation or do-nors of an institution to dedicate a portion of their resources to a cause. In our case here at Christ the Victor, our campaign was initiated to raise funds to pur-chase the land and facilities we now lease from Victory Lutheran Church, the in-itiators of the mission we are participating in. As you are probably aware, we contracted with INJOY, a consulting firm special-izing in church fund raising. They were very helpful in assisting us with our campaign and continue to provide some assistance, including analysis of our campaign results. I offer here some of their latest findings as of December 31, 2018.
26% of the campaign is completed with 50% of amounts pledged having been given, but 56% has actually been received considering giving from those who have not pledged.
Approximately 60% of those pledging are on track with their giving and 11% are slightly trailing.
19 families have completed their original pledged amounts (six have given more than their pledge).
Non-pledge giving total is 11% of the total to date. 87 families have pledged. Combined with 21 families that are giving to the
campaign and did not pledge gives a total of 108 participating. (We had forecasted a goal of 60).
This is a lot of numbers but it says we are doing well in our campaign. Our re-
sults since December 31, 2018 continue to look promising. (Please check out the
Campaign Thermometers posted in the narthex and the hallway leading to the
food bank area with our up to date information). (continued on next page)

congregation, there is still lots of po-
tential for additional dedication of re-
sources. If you have not pledged, or
are giving without pledging, please
prayerfully consider your ability to
pitch-in and help us reach our goal to
purchase the land and facilities by De-
cember, 2020.
Also, please be aware of your giving to
the General Fund as well. The every-
day operation of the Church depends
on that stewardship too.
