News from the Frontline in HondurasThis update is from Mario and Keila Barahona our missionaries on the

ground in Honduras

Since the pandemic began Honduras has had a lot of restrictionsCirculation is very limited for everybody People are allowed to go out onceevery two weeks depending on the last digit of their ID number Many menhave lost their jobs and cant provide for their families There is a lot ofhunger and not much that can be done We thank the Lord for Simple Matters and everybody involved in providingfood that will supply families for one month Items such as beans ricespaghetti tomato paste corn flour cooking grease and milk were includedin the 296 food bags that were delivered to 9 villages (El Naranjaacutel SabanetaChiquistepek Olancho Ojojona Santa Elena and Danli) in May andJune Pastors church members and project coordinators were able toparticipate in the distribution

All families had smiles on their faces and a thank you to say after receivingtheir food bags They were able to have a warm meal for all their familymembers the same day they receive the food We thank the Lord for his provision protection and faithfulness during thisdifficult time Families have been blessed with food knowing that everythingcomes because we have an Almighty God that cares for us at all times Please continue to pray for Honduras COVID cases are rising and hospitalsare collapsing We have a Sovereign God and we trust in Him He is inControl

Delivering Food to Families in NeedAs we shared in the June newsletter the focus of Health Matters (underSimple Matters umbrella) has shifted from maternal and child health towhole family nutrition during the COVID pandemic We asked for your helpto fund this project and within a few days the money was raised to providefood for June for nearly 300 families who live in the 9 villages served by theHealth Matters clinics Photos from that food delivery are shown in theslideshow below

we could trust God to make HIS plan happen And He has accomplishedthat plan Children at Camp Betel have monthly medical care Babiesreceive immunizations at birth and families hear and experience the life-changing word of God Scholarships are given to elementary children whoneed help with their educational expenses so that they can continue withtheir schooling With the establishment of the John W Cook ScholarshipFund in 2019 we are able to give financial support to high school andcollege students giving them opportunities to escape the poverty they nowknow Our dream at Simple Matters is to extend this kind of care to otherchildren in other villages in Honduras On our 2019 trip we worked withthe people of Iglesia Bautista Emanuel and Iglesia Bautista Renacer in thecapital city of Tegucigalpa and in the villages of Brisas del Campo LasMesas and El Naranjaacutel Mario and Keila are our contacts who work ashome missionaries in their country Working with Mario and Keila yearafter year we are aware of areas of great need Simple Matters nowpartners with with Mario and Keila in their ministries with children in thevillage of El Naranjaacutel and surrounding villages through the Cookie Projectand Health Matters Our priority goals for the current year are to fund afull-time doctor for the Health Matters mobile clinics and to help studentsfrom El Naranjaacutel continue their education through the John W CookScholarship Fund
