It takes a village to
build a hospital. Community and Third Party Events in support of the NEW
Humber River Hospital
REFERENCE GUIDE
On October 18, 2015, you’re going to change
healthcare as we know it. Toronto’s most diverse and
overlooked region needs accessible, world class
healthcare now. We need your help to raise $225
million to build and equip the new Humber River
Hospital. Your new hospital will be a true global
leader and innovator in the provision of health care.
Our community is counting on you. We need your
help to finish the job. Your contribution will help put
us at the cutting edge of patient care and create a
lasting legacy for generations – a legacy that will
make Toronto a better place for you and your loved
ones.
The NEW Humber
River Hospital.
Fast Facts:
+ 1.8 million sq. ft.
+ 656 patient beds
+ 450,000 ambulatory and diagnostic visits
+ 114,000 ER visits
+ 42,000 surgeries
+ 17,000 oncology care treatments
+ 550 patients in dialysis treatment
+ 6,000 new births
Your new Humber River Hospital will revolutionize
healthcare in Canada, but in order to build the
promise of patient care for you, your family and for
generations to come, we need your assistance in
raising the finances necessary to launch this hospital
to new heights. One method of support and
fundraising from the community can be provided
through 3rd
party events, activities or promotions.
BBQ’s.
Bake Sales.
Birthday parties.
How do you show your employees, customers and
their families that you care? Invest in Humber’s
special brand of patient care, and let your actions
speak for themselves.
Not only will you be supporting the future of
healthcare in your community, but you will aligning
your business with the hospital that cares for your
employees and customers. When a community is
healthy, it thrives—meaning good business for you
and a sustainable future for all.
It’s a win-win
situation.
At Humber River Hospital Foundation, we are here to assist you in planning and executing a successful
fundraising event.
We can help by:
+ Providing event planning advice, brainstorming
on various ideas for your event.
+ Promoting the event on the HRH Foundation
website, via Twitter and Facebook, through our
online and offline newsletters, and emailing our
staff internally to inform them of the event.
+ Providing Foundation presence at the event if
desired (to make a speech, take pictures, for a
cheque presentation).
+ Providing your organization with recognition
through a thank you letter on Humber letterhead,
a plaque to hang on the wall (if requested) and a
space in our newsletter which recognizes your or-
ganization’s efforts.
Unfortunately we are not able to:
+ Guarantee attendance or volunteers at your
event.
+ Issue tax receipts for third party events.
+ Share our mailing lists.
+ Assist with recruitment of sponsorship and
other in kind or monetary gifts.
We’ll be there.
Piggy backing on an existing event that you are already a part of.
Does your company or community group host an annual holiday party, luncheon, sports tournament or team building
event? Consider taking a pre- existing event and adding Humber as a beneficiary. Examples include charging $20 instead
of the regular $15 for your holiday luncheon and donating that extra $5 to Humber. Another example would be getting
participants from a sports tournament to fundraise.
Starting a new event from the ground up.
Planning and executing a new fundraising event is always exciting and rewarding. Examples can range from hosting a
BBQ to a tea party, hosting a car wash, yard sale, a movie night, bake sale, auction etc.
Giving a portion of proceeds. Do you own a business or know someone that has one and wants to give back?
Designate a specific time period where a portion of proceeds from a particular item or service go back to Humber.
Examples could include almost anything from the percentage of sales from an entrée to a manicure. The possibilities are
endless!
Tricks of the trade.
