Citation preview
The HRCA Delegates elected
two new Board members to
serve two-year terms. New
members Brock Norris and
Jeff Suntken were elected
at the March 15 Annual
Meeting. We would like
to congratulate the new
directors on their successful
election, and thank all the
candidates who took time out of their busy schedules to run for the director position.
For more detailed information on our new board members, and complete election
information go to www.HRCAonline.org/leadership. Thank you to Nick Robinson and
Todd Landgrave for their years of service.

30th Anniversary
As you know, the HRCA partners
with our Preferred Provider, Pro
Disposal, for the Highlands Ranch
opt-in trash program. Our low
monthly rates which include single
stream recycling have saved
residents hundreds of dollars, and
saved our community as a whole
roughly $2,000,000.
We have a three year contract for
the program with the option for
an increase in the fee they charge
based on the Consumer Price Index
(CPI) for transportation.
Pro Disposal has announced they
are raising their rates effective April
1st to $12.03 each month due to
the price of fuel rising so quickly, and
the increase in the Transportation
CPI. This is still a tremendous value
for our residents.
Complete details on the trash
program can be found at www.
HRCAonline.org/trash.

PREfERRED TRASH & RECYCLINg SERvICES PROvIDER – The HRCA’s preferred trash and recycling services provider is Pro
Disposal, Inc. (www.prodisposal.net). Trash and recycling rates beginning April 1st will be $12.03 per month due to the high and
rising costs of diesel fuel. Before the HRCA and Pro Disposal’s agreement went into effect one year ago, homeowners were paying between $18 and $26 per month so this is still a great value to HRCA homeowners. Over the last 12 months, our community saved roughly $2,000,000 for trash and recycling services as a result of our agreement.
THANk YOu TO PAST DIRECTORS – Todd Landgrave and Nick Robinson have served Highlands ranch and with their leadership have helped make Highlands ranch one of the best places to live in the uS. Serving as a Director has great responsibility and during the tenure of these two, the HRCA has received numerous awards, added first-class facilities and recreation programs, new community events, and accepted conveyance of the Backcountry Wilderness Area. These former Directors join a list of indivduals who have helped create the community and lifestyle that we all enjoy.
WELCOME TO NEW DIRECTORS – On March 15, Jeff Suntken and Brock Norris were elected to the HRCA Board of Directors. We are looking forward to working with our new Directors who are elected at large to represent you at the HRCA. I would also like to thank the other candidates that ran for a Director position; it takes great courage to run for an office.
HIgH SCHOOL SPORTS IN THE RANCH – I don’t know if High School sports are an indication of great communities, but if you just review the year (so far) for high school sports champions and top finishers, Highlands ranch schools make a pretty impressive mark in Colorado high school athletics. No matter the sport, the youth of Highlands Ranch have made a difference in sportsmanship and excellence on the court, in the pool, and on the field. I don’t think there is any area in the State that can boast about the quality of the schools in their hometown, the student achievements, athletics, and overall community pride like Highlands Ranch. The value of our lifestyles here in Highlands Ranch is obviously paying off and is just one more reason to own a home in this great community. Congratulations to all for great seasons.
HRCA COMMuNITY EvENTS – This year I hope you take advantage of some of the outstanding events in our 30th Anniversary Year. The HRCA is proud to sponsor a diverse mix of events for just about anyone. from our Run Series (we had 615 runners for St. Patrick’s Day), to Zumbathon, to the 4th of July Parade, to an Old West Cattle Branding, to the ever popular Summer Concert Series, there is always something the HrCA provides that you can enjoy at a low cost or even free. Take advantage of our events and meet your neighbors and friends for some hometown fun and entertainment.
BEAuTIfuL HIgHLANDS RANCH – I still see one of these license plate holders from time to time on the streets of Highlands Ranch. The license plate holders were given away by our developers to help us display our community pride. I love the way our community looks, especially when I visit friends and relatives that don’t live in Highlands Ranch and that license plate holder still holds true.
Happy Spring; enjoy the weather. Highlands Ranch, The Pride of Colorado!

Over the first 30 years of Highlands Ranch, there
are many of you who have witnessed vast changes
to the community: the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th recreation
centers coming on board; the development of the
commercial sectors, including Town Center North
and South; the great family July 4th Parade and
Celebration; an ever expanding population which
is over 93,000; hundreds of recreation programs and opportunities and
events offered to the community; and the conveyance of the Backcountry
Wilderness Area to the Community Association, just to name a few! These
are all the reasons why Highlands ranch is a great community and a place
where you want to live!
One thing that has remained consistent over the first 30 years is that
property values in Highlands ranch have remained high, even when the
economy was in a downturn. The constant that makes that happen is that
Highlands Ranch has always been a covenant controlled community.
The HRCA is obligated by the Community Declaration and other governing
documents to enforce the covenants of the community. under fundamental
principles of real estate law, by accepting title to real property, an owner
agrees to the terms of a contract. If a homeowner is not abiding by the
covenants outlined in these documents, the Covenant Compliance and
Assistance Department will work with them to take the appropriate steps to
bring their property into compliance.
keeping Highlands Ranch curb appeal top notch, even as the community
continues to age, is paramount to maintaining high property values. Every
homeowner has an investment in Highlands Ranch. So, step outside and take
a look at your home as a prospective buyer would. We all have a role in
Enhancing Property Values and Creating Quality of Life here in Highlands Ranch.

Studies indicate that art plays
an important role in the overall
development of a child. Reports
show that keeping children engaged
in art is critical for their academic
success. Children who participate
in art programs score higher on
standardized tests and stay interested in school. Evidence shows
that art helps develop important reasoning and observation skills,
making more difficult subjects like science and math easier to
understand.
The Douglas County Schools, in partnership with the HRCA, will
host an art show in April showcasing two- and three-dimensional
pieces completed by elementary, middle, and high school students
in Douglas County. This show is a wonderful way to inspire your
kids to take an art class, so visit Southridge in April to preview
the show. The HRCA offers a variety of class options from
