Both PCR systems can be used directly from the biopsies with similar H. pylori detection rates, although MOBIDIAG Amplidiag detected 2 more positives. GenoType HelicoDR kit, requires considerable more hands-on time, although it is also able to determine resistance to levofloxacin. Both techniques can detect mixed population. The aim of this study was to analyze the effectiveness of the new molecular kit MOBIDIAG Amplidiag® H. pylori + ClariR (a commercially available Real Time PCR) to determine the positivity for H. pylori and clarithromycin mutations related with resistance, and to compare the results with those obtained with GenoType HelicoDR, Hain Lifescience (conventional PCR followed by hibridization). Among 94 biopsy specimens, H. pylori was detected by GenoType HelicoDR in 55 (58.5%) and MOBIDIAG Amplidiag® in 57 (60.6%) (Table 1). Resistance to clarithromycin was detected in 26 (47.3%) samples by MOBIDIAG Amplidiag® system and in 23 (41.8%) by GenoType HelicoDR kit. Heterogeneous resistance (wild type and mutated at the same time) were detected in 4 samples by MOBIDIAG and 3 samples by GenoType (Table 2). 94 gastric biopsies from paediatric patients were studied. The DNA was extracted using the Nuclisens EasyMAG (bioMerieux). HelicoDR kit and MOBIDIAG Amplidiag® were used following manufacturer recommendations. Introduction C.Alba and V. Both PCR systems can be used directly from thebiopsies with similar H. pylori detection rates, although MOBIDIAG Amplidiag detected 2 morepositives.

GenoType HelicoDR kit, requires considerablemore hands-on time, although it is also able todetermine resistance to levofloxacin. Both techniquescan detect mixed population.

The aim of this study was to analyze theeffectiveness of the new molecular kit MOBIDIAGAmplidiag® H. pylori + ClariR (a commerciallyavailable Real Time PCR) to determine the positivityfor H. pylori and clarithromycin mutations relatedwith resistance, and to compare the results withthose obtained with GenoType HelicoDR, HainLifescience (conventional PCR followed byhibridization).
