Infrastructure Solutions

The intent of this guide is to set expectations about the context of the exam and to helpcandidates prepare for it. Recommended training to prepare for this exam can be found atThe Learning Center. It is important to note that although training is recommended for exampreparation, successful completion of the training alone does not guarantee that you willpass the exam. In addition to training, exam items are based on knowledge gained from on-the-job experience and application as well as other supplemental reference material that maybe specified in this guide.

HP certification

The HP Certified Professional community is a network of qualified HP channel partners,

customers, and employees who have taken the courses and studied the associated referencematerial necessary to pass the certification exams that earn HP Certified Professionalcredentials. The exams offered through the HP Certified Professional Program validate theskills and assure the competency of HP Certified Professionals. The knowledge andexperience required to pass HP certification exams ensure that HP Certified Professionals arerespected and valued throughout the industry.

ASE Accredited Systems Engineer

The HP ASE StorageWorks Integration [2011] certification is an integration certificationcovering HP storage products that are used in enterprise environments. Targeted at the HP

partner, employee or customer technical professional who designs and implements enterprisebackup and virtual storage solutions. The ASE certification covers the entire HPStorageWorks portfolio with emphasis on the P6000, P4000, 3PAR, P9000, X9000 andD2D solutions.

Audience

The exam is for HP Services field engineers, call center personnel, and other fieldpersonnel who provide installation and/or operational support assistance for HPStorageWorks SANs.

Minimum qualifications

To pass this exam, you should have at least one year designing and implementing HP SANsolutions. Exams are based on an assumed level of industry-standard knowledge that may begained from the training, hands-on experience, or other pre-requisite events. You should alsobe knowledgeable about:

Microsoft Windows administrationHP-UX, Tru64 UNIX, or OpenVMS administrationSCSI, RAID, Fibre Channel, and backup technologiesSAN architecture and function

You should also have taken the following courses or have equivalent field experience:

Exam details

The following are details about the exam:

Number of items: 70

Item types: Multiple choice single answer; multiple choice multiple answers; drag-and-drop.

Exam time: 105 minutes

Passing score: 70%

Reference material: No on-line or hard copy reference material will be allowed at thetesting site.

Training

You are not required to take the associated courses; however, HP strongly recommends thatyou complete the training and thoroughly review all course materials and documents beforetaking the exam. Sufficient on-the-job experience may also be required.

Studies conducted by HP and Prometric show that a combination of course attendance, self-study, and on-the-job experience maximizes the likelihood of passing the exam on the firstattempt.
