For each piece of office equipment you are connecting to the HP OfficeJet, remove a plastic tab from the phone/fax connector. If you connect a PC modem, turn off its fax-receive feature. The Fax Setup Wizard is the easiest wayto enter the required header informationfor your fax. Follow the onscreeninstructions to enter your name, phonenumber and other important settings.

If the Fax Setup Wizard does not appearon your screen, double-click the HPOfficeJet G Series Director icon on yourdesktop, point to Settings, and thenchoose Fax Setup Wizard.

Note: We strongly recommendthat you use the Fax Setup Wizard.If you wish, you can use the frontpanel to set up your fax. Followthe instructions in the BasicGuide.

A series of Microsoft “New Hardware Found”messages appear. The configuration maytake a few moments.

Print an alignment page

Make sure paper is loaded in yourHP OfficeJet.

The message “Press toAlign Cartridges” appears in thedisplay. Press the key toenable the HP OfficeJet to performthe alignment. After a page prints,the alignment is complete.

Look at the alignment page forgreen check marks, and thenrecycle or discard the page.

Open the doorand raise it upuntil it clicksinto place. Theprint-cartridgecarriagemoves to themiddle theaccess area.

Lower the right print-cartridgelatch down onto the top of thecartridge, and push down untilthe latch locks firmly into place.

Remove the black print cartridge (thinner one)from its packaging and, being careful to touchonly the black plastic, gently remove both thegreen pull tab and the blue tape covering thenozzles.

Push the black print cartridge firmlydown into the slot on the right. As youinsert the cartridge, make sure thelabel is facing you.

CAUTION:Do not touchor removethe gold-coloredcontacts.

11 Insert color print cartridge

Remove the color print cartridge (widerone) from its packaging and, being carefulto touch only the black plastic, gentlyremove both the green pull tab and theblue tape covering the nozzles.

Push the color print cartridge firmly down intothe slot on the left. Lower the left print-cartridgelatch down onto the top of the cartridge, andpush down until the latch locks firmly into place.

CAUTION:Do not touchor removethe gold-coloredcontacts.
