    Printer Software Information

    Before you can use your printer with any software pro

    first install the printers software. Your printers softwarprinter drivers that support both Windows 3.1xand Wprinters software will automatically select the optimal based on the requirements listed below.

    Installation Considerations

    Some devices (such as a switchbox, zip drive, or softw

    connected between the printer and the computer mayprinter from sending data back to the computer. If youthese devices, some of your printers features will notyou, such as the status window.

    Standard Installation for Window

    This setup installs the printer software for Windows

    1 Connect your HP LaserJet 6L printer to your compu

    high-quality IEEE-1284 compliant parallel cable.2 Ensure the power cord is connected to the printer.3 Insert Disk 1 into Drive A: (or B:).4 Select File from the Program Manager and chooseR5 Type A:SETUP (or B:SETUP) and click OK.6 Follow the instructions on your screen to complete t7 Remove the disk when the installation is complete.

    Standard Installation for Window

    This setup installs the printer software for Windows

    1 Click Start, select Shut Down, choose Shut Down tclick Yes.

    Custom versus Typical Installatio

    During installation, you may see a dialog box asking iTypical or a Custom installation. The Typical installatioHP recommended software.

    If you choose to do a Custom installation, you will be want to install the host-based driver or the PCL driverrequirements for the PCL driver and the host-based dthe system requirements and your printer is connectecomputer, select the host-based driver. If you meet threquirements and you are going to access the printerselect the PCL driver.

    You will also need to select or clear the HP LaserJet 6Select this option if you want to include online help filesoftware. Finally, you will be asked to select or clear TSelect this option if you want to install TrueType fonts.

    Pausing Your Printer Between Pa

    Occasionally, you may need the printer to pause so thspecial media, such as letterhead. If you specify Mansoftware, the printer will pause before the first page a

    page you print. This will give you time to load the specresume printing, press and release the Front Panel b
