Howler Wireless Site Alert Frequently Asked Questions
What is the range?
The open air range is approximately 1km. All Subsidiaryunits have to be within range of the Master unit. In practice,within a building we would suggest the followingguidelines:
• When located in stairwells up to 6 storeys can be covered
• Each Subsidiary unit indoors should be within approximately 50m of the Master unit
Do I need special gear to programme this?
No, the units are addressed using DIP switches, making thesystem very simple to set up
Can I have more than 1 Master unit on a site?
Yes, there are 8 channels, so up to 8 systems can be runseparately in close proximity
Do I need a control panel?
No, the system does not require a control panel. A MasterUnit is required for each system
How do I silence the alarms?
By pressing the switch on any unit 3 times in succession
How do I know when the batteries need replacing?
There is automatic battery monitoring function on eachunit, and a visual warning is given when the batteries needreplacing
What frequency is the system operating on?
The bandwidth is 868mHz and the units are equipped withClass 1 receivers providing reliable connections betweenunits
Operating under the slogan “Hit it and run for less” the Howler SiteAlert is designed for smaller sites with smaller budgets. The excitingaddition of the fully-wireless Site Alert RF enhances this highly popularrange of emergency evacuation alarms.
Designed for incredibly simple installation and operation, each systemhas a Master Unit, and up to 30 Subsidiary units can be linked to it.The alarm can be activated at any point, and is silenced by pressingthe button on any unit 3 times in succession.
Uniquely, the system includes a silent automatic disconnection warning.This means that if any Site Alert becomes disconnected for a pre-setperiod of time, an LED illuminates on the unit. It is essential for radio-linked alarms to have a disconnection warning which does not dependon someone remembering to carry out a weekly test.
The weatherproof design is suitable for indoor and outdoor locations,and the units are powered by standard, readily available alkalinebatteries.
