Overview

Internationally recognized figure in development evaluation with publications in a wide range of

development and evaluation journals.

Established and managed 3ie – a global grant programme for impact evaluation – for six years. Created

Nearly 30 years’ experience in development research and evaluation, focusing on development

evaluation, aid and development effectiveness, and anti-poverty policies,.

Currently Executive Director of the International Initiative for Impact Evaluation (3ie), Adjunct Professor

at the Alfred Deakin Research Institute, Deakin University, Australia, founding Co-Chair of the Campbell

Collaboration International Development Coordinating Group and Managing Editor of the Journal of

Development Studies and Journal of Development Effectiveness. Editorial board of Journal of

International Development and Evaluation Review.

Previous experience includes leading the impact evaluation program of the World Bank’s Independent
