Duration Up to 18 months. Description This course helps students to get an information technology qualification through a mix of classroom-based and home-based learning and on-the-job training. The course has been designed to give students the skills they need to get a job or go on to further education or training. Students work towards achieving a QQI Level 4 Major Award in IT and have the opportunity to get an ECDL certificate if appropriate. Modules include IT Skills, Computer Applications, Digital Media Technology, Work Experience, Communications, Personal Effectiveness, Workplace Safety, Mathematics. Certification QQI Level 4 in Information, Communication and Technology Skills and ECDL (optional). How we can help you learn Person Centred Approach Every course is tailored to the individual’s needs, this is done by means of assessment and discussion which leads to the development of a Personal Training Plan for every student. Education Supports Literacy and numeracy classes are available to students who want to improve their reading, writing and maths. On-Site Psychologist Our training courses are designed to help build students’ confidence, assertiveness and give them independent living skills. NLN offer supports from psychologists and one-on-one coaching in order to help students learn to be the best that they can be. Job-Seeking Skills Vocational Training Courses include job-specific modules to help students learn job-seeking skills such as CV writing and Interview Skills. Work Placements Each of our vocational training courses include a work placement to give students the chance to gain real-life skills, on-the-job training and valuable experience in a job that interests them. Continuous Intake Unlike other learning centres, at NLN we offer continuous intake. That means that students don’t have to start a course in September or January, instead they can start with us when they are ready to. Course Sampling At times students may not know which course is the right one for them. We offer students an opportunity to trial courses for a couple of weeks before committing to them. Cavan The National Learning Network has been providing quality training courses, vocational training and employment opportunities for people with additional support needs for over 50 years. We provide specialised training programmes which are nationally recognised, accredited and assist our students to get a job. Description:Access is designed to help you make realistic decisionsabout your life. The course focuses on your needs, personal goals and strengths. It will help you increase your independence, develop life skills and improve your social integration and personal growth. Access is a person-centred course in line with the HSE's New Directions training policy.

Modules include:Independent Life Skills, Self-Advocacy, Active Citizenship, Health and Fitness, Computer Skills, Numeracy and Literacy, Health and Safety, Work Experience and Art and Design.

Duration: Up to 1 year.

Description:The Employer Based Training course is designed to help you get a job. This work-based training course offers you a work placement in a job that interests you, so you get real-life training, skills and experience in a job that you want.

Modules include:Computer Applications, Customer Service, IT Skills, Work Experience, Personal Effectiveness and Workplace Safety.

Duration: Up to 28 months.

Description:Turas gives students who may have high level of social isolation the chance to develop personal, social and creative skills and to promote wellness.

Turas offers a structured approach to developing your confidence and skills in life and health management.

It gives you an opportunity to explore educational, social, recreational and work-related opportunities in your local community.

Modules include:Communications, Personal and Interpersonal Skills, Health and Safety, Self Advocacy, Work Experience, Life Management Skills, Introduction to IT and Art and Design.

Duration: Up to 1 year.

Description:Fresh Start is for people who want to explore the world of work or go on to further education after a period of time out of work.

It will provide you with the support you need to develop IT and employment skills and to explore different job options or further education opportunities.

Modules include:Career Preparation, Health and Fitness, Personal Effectiveness, Application of Numbers, Work Experience, Word Processing and Internet skills.
