The GateHouse Port Arrival Service is an innovative solution which provides an overview of current and upcoming berth, pier and quay usage. Rather than just a list of ships and pier numbers, the Port Arrival Service provides a user-friendly and graphical overview. A webbased solution – work from anywhere In the Port Arrival Service system, operators on a port can see the arrivals and ETAs, either on their computer or in a simple smartphone application. This provides great flexibility in order to keep updated, no matter where you are. For example, it allows a crane operator to easily know when to expect an arrival, and people on the incoming shift can check the arrival of the first ship on their watch, from home. Integration with your ERP system For medium and large ports, the system can easily be inte- grated into an existing ERP system. The arrivals, booked in the ERP system, can be shown on screen in both list form and with a graphical representation of each ship. For small ports or ports without an ERP system, the arrivals can be booked directly in the AIS system, which then acts as a simple ERP system. The operation is as simple as clicking a ship and pressing the “Add track” button; the system will then automatically assume the ship is en-route towards the port.

Automated alerts Using the GateHouse Watchdog module, the AIS system can also send events to the ERP system whenever a ship is ente-ring or leaving the port. This can be used by the ERP system to calculate duration of stay, e.g. for billing purposes.

Shapes can be defined as positions, lines and polygons. These shapes can be used for the GateHouse Watchdog alerts and reports.

Watchdogs can be defined in the system to monitor and trigger on different scenarios, such as a ship passing a line or a ship entering a port. The watchdogs can further be configured with shapes and filters. The user gets an easy overview of the events when, or if, they are triggered.

Alerts if ETAs deviate The Port Arrival Service can make an automatic calculation of the estimated time of arrival (ETA). The system will auto-matically calculate a plausible ETA from the ship’s current position towards the port. This calculation works on a global scale towards more than 6000 ports.

The arrivals booked in the ERP system can be shown on screen along with the calculated ETA. If the timing deviates too much from the calculated, a message can be sent to all relevant stakeholders to ensure a common understanding of the expected arrival time.

Colour coding for better overviewAll the bookings (whether from the AIS system or the ERP system) can be shown colour coded on the map. The colour can represent a state of the arrival (booked, confirmed etc.). The arrivals will be shown with an offset from the pier corre-sponding to when the ship is expected.

Easily detect berthing conflicts (blue/yellow) and impossible berthings (purple). The system can even be setup to automatically detect berthing conflicts. Using the mouse, the ope-rator can move the arrival to another berthing position or quay and feed the change back into the ERP system.

For port operations you can select among more than 6000 ports in the database. Each opera-tor can handle multiple ports. This is useful for companies administering more than one port and for national authorities.

Ship list

The ship list will provide an overview of all the ships in the area of interest. This includes all the information from the AIS transponders onboard the ships.

Standard tools such as measuring bearing/distance are readily available. Simply click on a ship or a position and drag along.

The solution provides easy access to photos on shipspotting.com. Simply click on the ShipSpotting button, to view photos of the selected ship - beware of commercials on shipspotting.com.

Port call history

A list of the last port calls is available for all ships. This information is based on AIS reporting.

Searching for ships

How to use the Port Arrival Service Page 6/7

You can easily search for ships by name, call sign, IMO or MMSI. A click zooms to the ship’s current position.

Filters are easily created and can be used with most data available about the ships. Examples are: country, draught, length, width, speed, course, name, and destination.

Our experience. Your gain.

We have more than 10 years of experience with developing solutions for

ports, maritime authorities and commercial partners around the world.

Replay

The solution has a replay extension. Use this to replay incidents, accidents, or other events by using historical data stored in a standard database. The replay can be speeded up, and it can even be exported to a video file.

Cut Costs by Optimizing Port ManagementWith the Port Arrival Service you get precise information about arrival, berthing and departure of vessels in your port – available as both real-time and historical data. You are hereby able to easily optimize management and planning according to port capacity. In this way you gain considerable

operational cost reductions, obtained through reduced ad-ministrative costs.

Furthermore, you have all the information needed for reliable and precise billing.
