YouTube.com   and   Viddler.com   are   websites   that   allow   you   to   watch  tons  of  videos  of  any  kind  and  let  you  upload  your  own  creations!  

This   tutorial   has   been   written   to   help   everyone   interested   in   learning  

how  to  upload  their  videos   in  an  easy  way  to  those  great  sites.  For  this  purpose  you  will  be  using  your  webcam  and  a  microphone  as  video  and  

audio  recorders.  Let’s  start  with  YouTube!  

How  to  use  your  webcam  to  record  and  upload  videos  on  YouTube.com  in  8  easy  steps!  

If   you   don’t   have   already   an   account   on   YouTube.com,   you   can   create  

one  by  clicking  on  the  link  “Create  Account”  located  in  the  upper  left  of  the   page   as   described   below.   The   process   is   very   straightforward   and  

you  will  have  your  new  account  in  matter  of  seconds.  

After  having  created  your  new  account,  you  can  log  in  by  clicking  on  the

Once   you   have   logged   in,   click   on   “Upload”   to   begin   the   process   of  

uploading  your  video.  

Now  click  on  “Record  from  Webcam”  to  open  the  recording  tool.  

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Adobe  Flash  Player  is  the  software  that  allows  you  to  watch  all  YouTube  

content  and  uses  your  webcam  and  microphone  to   record  your  videos,  but  you  have  to  give  it  permission  to  use  them.  In  order  to  do  it  just  click  

on  “Allow”  and  then  on  the  “Close”  button.  

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Get   ready   because   as   soon   as   you   click   on   the   Record   button,   the  

process  beings.  

If  you  have  finished  your  recording,  click  on  the  Stop  button.  

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Now  click  on  the  “Publish”  button  to  finally  put  your  video  on  the  web.  

A  new  page  will  open.  Here  you  can  name,  describe  and  tag  your  video  and   that   way   people   will   know   what   it   is   about.   Then   select   the  

corresponding  category  that  suits  best  the  content  of  your  video.  

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

In   this   same   page   you  will   see   this   very   important   set   of   options   that  

must  be  modified  according  your  preferences  before  finishing.    

Privacy:   Here   you   choose   who   sees   your   video.   You   have   to   main  choices:  a)  anyone  can  see  it  or  b)  just  the  people  you  want  can  see  it.  If  

you   select   the   second   one,   then   you   can   choose   between   “Limited  access  URL”  that  means  having  a  ‘secret’  link  to  your  video,  and  only  the  

people  you  give  the  link  to  are  allowed  to  access  it.  With  “Private  share  with  YouTube  users”  you  can  select  the  YouTube  users  that  you  want  to  

be  able  to  watch  it.  

The  next  sections  are  very   intuitive  and  some  of  them  are   just  not  very

To  open  My  Videos  section,  do  as  described  in  the  image  below.  

Now  look  for  your  brand  new  creation  and  click  on  its  name.  

In  this  new  page  you  can  see  your  video  in  action.  On  the  left  bar  of  the  page  you  will  see  this  box,  and  in  the  URL  section  you  have  the  link  you

Viddler.com  is  another  great  and  easy  option  to  upload  your  creations.  I  

really  encourage  you  to  give  it  a  try.  

Let’s  begin  with  the  tutorial!  

If   you   are   not   registered   yet   in   Viddler.com,   you   can   do   it   by  clicking   on   the   blue   “Sign  Up”   button   located   in   the   upper-­‐right  

corner  of  the  main  page.  The  registration  process  if  quite  easy  to  follow,   just  make   sure   you   select   the   Personal   type   of   account,  which  is  free.    

After  having  successfully  created  your  new  account,  you  can  start  

using  it  by  clicking  on  the  grey  “Login”  button.  

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

       

 

 

The   first   step   is   clicking   on   the   “Record”   link   under   the  Videos  

menu.    

This  is  the  first  page  you  will  see,  which  is  the  Adobe  Flash  Player  

mentioned   and   explained   in   the   YouTube   tutorial.   It   asks   for  permission   to   use   your   webcam   and   microphone,   so   click   on  “Allow”  

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Here  you  can  select  the  quality  that  your  final  video  will  have.  For  

general  purposes  “Medium”  is  a  good  choice,  so  go  for  it  and  then  click  “Okay”.  

 

 

 

 

 

 

   

 

 

Get   ready   because   as   soon   as   you   click   on   the   red   circle,   the  

recording  begins.

The   final   step   is   copying   and   sharing   the   Permalink   which   is  nothing  more  than  the  link  to  the  video  itself.
