Professional’s Concerns and Available Resources in this field

The nature of the topic, social stigma, use of language, is making very difficult to talk about this needs.

There are several tools available to us to address this need. None of them are very effective. I like to try a new approach.

Several organizations including: Physicians, Psychiatrist, Psychologist, Social workers, Teachers, Speech pathologist and Family members and more are searching for answers.

Occupation Therapist, Aug. Communication Specialist, Speech Pathologist, Teachers, Psychologist and Social Workers including parents are searching for answers.

Suggestions and available technics/tools are available to resolve this needs are: Social Stories, Circle Program, Roll play, Modeling, individual and group problem solving skills, use of, Videos, Behavior Management and more.

My intention is to use in combination of: Circle program and Social Stories with Role modeling, and some games through DynaVox Speech Devices -

Teaching Social Skills to a student who has Autism

In combination of a game with a social story can be use to teach appropriate Social Interaction with a friend from opposite sexThis group of students have social skills and communication impairment.Social stories give some background and very specific social norm to follow. Why there has to be a rule to play a game?

Circle program will provide visual structure along with video and role play. Role play will provide problem solving skills

Difficulties in Communication disorder

This Autistic boy named Georg, has learned how to start a conversation, and carry on the conversations up to three sentences. After that he doesn’t know what to say. If someone asks him questions, he will be able to answer those questions. He just doesn’t know what to say next. George has seen, his cousin has a girlfriend. So He wants a girlfriend. He likes one or two girls in school. He went to talk to the girl, he thinks, she will be his girlfriend. The girl saw him and went with her other friend. So he decided to hurt her. He is very curious about women’s body too.

Now, what do I have to teach?

1. What are the skills Georg already has?

2. What is the definition of a girlfriend?

3. All girls are girls. All girls are not a girlfriend.

4. Girls could be friends. Only one girl will be a girlfriend.

5. However George chose to be her boyfriend, still this girl also has to like George.

Write social stories on each skills or concept I have to teach. Develop some interactive games. Incorporate the social-stories with the games. Teach each skill separately. Then incorporate

the entire four skills in one game to teach generalization skill.

Use the Role play model with him in various scenarios. The teacher may use some other techniques too.
