How to Submit a Proposal for a Deep Dive Session
Please use this document to guide you in submitting the following types of proposals: Deep
Dive Session, Deep Dive Session with Ethics Focus, Deep Dive Session with Legal Focus,
Deep Dive Session with Local Focus.
Accessing Proposal Submission Site
Beginning June 1-25, follow this link to visit the Proposal Submission Site login page.
Selecting “Login” will prompt you to enter your APA ID and password. Visit our Login Help
page if you need to reset your password.
Upon successfully entering your ID and password, you will be redirected to the Proposal
Submission Site home screen.
Starting your proposal
1. Select “Click here to begin a new Proposal” to begin.
2. Begin by entering your proposal title. Note: titles have a 200 character/6-word limit.
3. Then choose your proposal type from the drop-down menu.
4. A description of all proposal types can be viewed by clicking on “View descriptions of
the categories here”.
5. A pop up box will appear, scroll through and choose the category that best suits your
proposal.
Once you select ‘Continue”, the Task List page will load. All tasks must be
completed for a proposal to be considered.
Here are the directions for each one of the tasks:
Task 1: Adding speakers
Open this task to add speakers to your submission. Each step below must be repeated for
each speaker.
1. Scroll to the bottom of the page and complete the required fields: First Name, Last
Name, Email and Role. Click on the “Add Speaker” button.
2. Select ‘Click here to view role descriptions”.
3. A new window will open with a PDF of all available roles along with their descriptions
and requirements.
4. Once the speaker is added, a blue icon will appear. Use this blue icon to send the
speaker a notification instructing them to complete their profile.
5. You may also click on the speakers’ name, and complete the profile on their behalf.
Clicking on the speakers’ name will open the “Speaker Details” page. This step must
be fully completed for the proposal to be considered.
Additional required fields: City, State, Position/Title, Company, Biography, APA
Member or Nonmember ID number.
6. A biography is required for ALL speakers being listed in your proposal. The value of
your proposal is sustained by the knowledge and skills of the speakers you have
invited to participate. Please include a brief description of why this speaker is
qualified to present on the subject matter of your proposal. This field is required for
each speaker and has a 100-word limit.
7. If your speaker is an APA member or a nonmember who previously established an
APA website account, enter their six-digit APA ID. If they do not have an APA ID
Number, they must use link provided to create an account. Once the account is
created, please insert the APA ID number in the field provided.
Note: even nonmembers need an APA ID number to complete this task within the
proposal submission site.
Task 2: Session Information
Open this task to add/edit proposal information such as title, descriptions and
outline.
All fields on this page are required. Keep in mind the following word limits:
40-word limit: Short Description.
200-word limit: Long Description, Outline of Session, Describe How Your Session Will
Engage the Audience
1. If necessary, you may edit the Proposal Title.
2. Choose an Educational Track. Use the “click here” button to view the list and
descriptions of the NPC19 educational tracks and topics.
3. Choose the appropriate session format using the drop-down menu. Use the “click
here” link to view the session format descriptions.
4. Choosing an Educational Track will reveal all Topics within that track in a checkbox
format. Check all that apply.
5. Complete short description, 40-word limit.
6. Complete long description, 200-word limit.
7. Complete the session outline, 200-word limit.
8. Explain why your session should be a Deep Dive Session, 200-word limit.
Task 3: APA Divisions
Select all APA Divisions of which you are an active member.
Task 4: Additional Information
In this portion you will indicate if the proposal content relates to inclusiveness and/or social
justice. After reviewing the definition, choose the answer that best fits with your proposal
from the drop-down menu.
Task 5: Learning Objectives
Open this task to provide three learning objectives that are clear, measurable, and
achievable.
Complete the sentence, 'Upon completion, participants will be able to….' Use action words to
begin this learning objective, such as list, describe, define, demonstrate, conduct, etc. Note:
there is no need to type “Upon completion, participants will be able to” in each learning
objective box.
All 5 tasks should now display a green checkmark indicting they have been
completed. Click on the “Save Proposal” button.
You must click on “Submit” to finalize submitting your proposal. This button will
appear after all tasks are complete and the proposal is saved.
Upon successfully submitting a proposal, the homepage will load with a
confirmation message. An email confirmation will also be sent for all successfully
submitted proposals.
If a task has not been completed, an error will appear at the top of the page. Go back and
complete the indicated task to submit your proposal.
If you wish to complete the submission at a later date, select “Save Submission”. Saved
proposals will appear on the homepage.
