cybercriminals. With the slew of other projects facing today’s IT teams, how do

| Security awareness training is always more effective when it’s been internalized across an entire workforce. So, when trying to keep your team up to date on cyber security threats, it can be helpful to take advantage of free resources available to you from reputable security awareness providers. For example, Inspired eLearning has a resource center that provides free posters, videos, infographics, whitepapers and more.

For example, our Security Awareness Tip of the Day Calendar is a great way to remind employees of best practices quickly and easily every day. This way, you learn on-the-go and still be up-to-date on the latest cybersecurity threats. And for those days when you have even more time to learn something new and helpful, you can download an eBook or whitepaper for more detailed views on how you can improve security for your organization.

If your goal is to help your employees learn more about cybersecurity on a regular basis, Inspired eLearning has you covered here as well. For instance, you’ll find several posters with helpful tips on increasing security around the office. Printing these out and putting them on the walls at work will remind employees how to safely use email, social media, and other popular entranceways that cybercriminals often exploit.

And speaking of social media, feel free to share our infographics, easily accessible within our resource center. You can post them on your company Facebook page and any social media groups or pages that employees and customers alike might be on. Infographics are a great way to share critical information quickly and easily. Be sure to share these resources to keep employees and customers engaged and updated on the latest cybersecurity threats.

| Another easy way to stay informed on the cybersecurity threat landscape is to subscribe to blogs. For example, the Inspired eLearning blog is a great place to get started if you want to read the latest news on the topic of cybersecurity. Other blogs that provide great information include Threatpost, CSO, CIO, and The Hacker News.

You can also get cybersecurity news from companies that develop security products or have an informative, updated website. For example, you can read the blogs from companies like AVG, Malwarebytes, and PCMag. There’s also the Google Security Blog that gives subscribers the latest news in security.

In addition, you should get in the habit of reading websites that are devoted to informing readers about the latest data breaches and other incidents you need to know about. These sites aren’t always eye catching or fun to read, but they’re very

useful if you just want the facts on the latest cybersecurity events. For example, the Carnegie Mellon University Software Engineering Institute features a Vulnerability Notes Database that offers detailed information about software vulnerabilities you should know about. The National Vulnerability Database works similarly, and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency is also updated with the same type of information.

Most of these blogs and websites make it easy to stay updated by subscribing to get the latest information right in your email inbox. This means you’ll get notifications as soon as they publish details about new threats. If you don’t have the option of subscribing, it’s a good idea to get in the habit of checking these sites daily. Another option is to enable notifications for your computer or phone.

Finally, be sure to follow these companies on their social media pages. Many security companies post to Twitter, Facebook, or LinkedIn as soon as they find out about a threat, sometimes before they even write a blog post about it. This allows you to find out the information you need to know to stay protected.

Listen to Cybersecurity Podcasts| There are dozens of highly rated and recommended security podcasts you should try listening to. For example, Security Weekly discusses the latest software vulnerabilities, new research on cybersecurity, and other news that would interest IT community members. Risky Business is another weekly podcast that covers the latest hacking incidents and interviews experts in the cybersecurity field. Smashing Security is a funny, eye-opening podcast that looks at the week’s latest cybersecurity blunders so you can laugh while you learn what not to do with your private information.

These are just a few of the cybersecurity podcasts you can listen to. There are plenty more to consider, including Troy Hunt’s Weekly Update Podcast—

which is run by the same person behind the helpful Have I Been Pwned website—and Down the Security Rabbit Hole. Most of these podcasts occur weekly and run for about an hour. But if you’re crunched for time, you can try a short, daily podcast instead, like The Cyberwire Daily Podcast – a 15-minute podcast that goes over recent cybersecurity news and runs featured interviews with experts.

| Blogs, social media, and podcasts are all convenient ways to get your information on a daily basis. After all, you can access these modes of communication any time, from anywhere, so they fit into any lifestyle. However, it’s hard to replicate face-to-face interactions, and sometimes it’s nice to get out and talk to people who work in cybersecurity.

When you attend tradeshows and conferences, you’ll find that it’s easy to network with hundreds of people who are either informed on cybersecurity, or are interested in becoming more informed, like you. At these events, you’ll find inspiration from the variety of speaking sessions and workshops with industry experts, exchange contact information with others who are interested in this topic, and find out about the latest cybersecurity solutions. The best part is that there are dozens of tradeshows to choose from every year. Some of the most popular cybersecurity tradeshows include Black Hat, InfoSec World, Gartner Security & Risk Management Summit, and RSA

Conference. Whether you attend a tradeshow in person or simply read all about what happened later, you’ll have an edge on cybercriminals because you’ll have some idea of the most popular threats and possible solutions for them. Also, if you want your staff—or at least the executives at your company—to be as passionate about cybersecurity as you are, consider bringing them to a tradeshow. This will give them a chance to devote at least a full day to thinking about cybersecurity. Sometimes you just need to carve out a day or two to dedicate to solving—or even preventing—cybersecurity problems, and a trip to a tradeshow could offer that chance for you and your colleagues!

| If you’ve reviewed any of these resources already, you’ve likely realized that the number one detail to remember about cybersecurity threats is that they’re always evolving. That means you should be ready to keep learning everything there is to know about cybersecurity on a daily or weekly basis.

As soon as you learn all the details about one type of threat, another one will take its place. It’s important to never get complacent when it comes to your knowledge of cybersecurity threats. The day you stop learning about them is the day you’re more at risk of being successfully targeted by a cybercriminal.
