UDS Enterprise How to setup Microsoft RDS with UDS Enterprise

1. Introduction UDS Enterprise enables the deployment and management of virtual applications through Microsoft Remote Desktop Services (RDS).

RDS let users run applications remotely.

In order to ensure the proper setup, running & integration of UDS Enterprise and RDS it is necessary to follow the steps described in this document.

1.1 Prerequisites The following requirements must be fulfilled:

You must have an updated Windows server 2012 R2

The server must feature a fixed IP address

The server must be included in an AD domain

Domain users are needed (as many as UDS users accessing applications) to map applications in UDS Enterprise

2. UDS Enterprise Actor Setup Before installing & configuring RDS, you must setup UDS actor.

Go to UDS Enterprise downloads tab. Select and download RDS UDS Actor (for

remote apps on Windows Server 2012).

Setup RDS UDS Actor in Windows server 2012:

Accept license agreement:

Choose a destination folder and setup RDS UDS Actor:

Finish the installation & run UDS RDS Actor:

Input broker “UDS Server” address and accept:

Once UDS RDS Actor is setup, you can setup Microsoft Remote Desktop Services.

2 Remote Desktop Services Setup Go to “Server Manager” console and select “Add Roles and Features”

Select “Remote Desktop Services installation”

Click on “Standard deployment”

Check “Session-based desktop deployment”

Setup service’s roles:

One or several “RD Connection Broker”

One or several “RD Web Access server”

One or several “RD Session Host”

Accept and start setup:

3. Setup RDS with UDS Enterprise

Once the server is setup and rebooted, you must create “Session Collections”

Write a name and description:

Add “RD Session Host servers”

Add user groups which will have access to this “Collection” and that will be mapped

with UDS Enterprise users:

Enable and choose a location to host “User profile disks”

Accept and create the “Collection”

Once the “Collection” is created, click on “Publish RemoteApp Programs”

In “RemoteApp programs” you must select RDSActor. UDS RDS Actor must be

previously installed.

Click on “Add” and UDS in the following route:

c:\Program Files (x86)\UDSRDSActor\RDSActor.exe

Confirm and publish:

Once created, you should edit the properties:

Go to “General” tab, select “No” in “Show the RemoteApp in RD Web Acess”

Go to “Paremeters” tab and select “Allow any command-line parameters”

Apply changes and accept. Finally, go to “Session Collection” to set “Timeout” and

“reconnection”

Once these steps are completed, you already have a valid RDS server to connect to

UDS broker and publish virtual applications for UDS Enterprise users.
