HOW TO SETUP ALEXA AND CONTROLYOUR DEVICE WITH VOICE COMMANDS
Before you begin setting up the SMRTLite Alexa Skill, you will need to make sure the below steps have been completed.
If any of the below steps are pending, please do them first before continuing with this tutorial.
• SMRTLite App is installed on your device.
• You have created an account and signed into the SMRTLite App.
• You have at least one lighting device setup in the SMRTLite App.
• Alexa App is installed on your device.
• You are logged into your Amazon account in the Alexa App.
Once all the above steps have been completed, please proceed to the next steps.
1. Open the Alexa App and tap the menu button on the top left of the screen.
2. From the menu list, select Skills & Games.
3. Once in the Skills & Games section, tap the magnifying glass icon on the top right of the screen to search for the SMRTLite Skill.
4. Search for SMRTLite in the search field and select the SMRTLite Skill once it appears in the search results.
5. Tap the “Enable To Use” button to enable the SMRTLite skill.
6. You will be asked to enter your SMRTLite App credentials. Enter your phone or email and password, then tap “Link Now”.
7. You will be asked to authorize that Alexa can communicate with the SMRTLite App.
Tap “Authorize”.
8. If the link was successful, you will receive a “Successfully Linked” confirmation message. Tap “Done” or (X) icon on Android.
9. A “Discover Devices” page will appear allow-ing Alexa to discover any SMRTLite fixtures you already have setup. Tap “Discover Devices” button and it will begin scanning.
10. Once it is done scanning, you will be taken to the “Devices” page. Here is where all devices that can be controlled by Alexa will be found.
11. Tap “Lights” to see all your lighting devices. You will now be able to control these devices via Alexa.
NOTE: If you had devices grouped in the SMRTLite App, the groups do not transfer over to Alexa.
You will need to create the groups inside the Alexa app if you wish to use commands to control multiple devices at the same time. See next steps to learn how to do this.
1. Navigate to the “Devices” section and tap the plus (+) sign on the top right of your screen.
