Introduction Battlefield 2 is a first-person shooter based on a hy-

pothetical conflict between China, America, and an

alliance of Arab nations. Players of this game must

rely on strategy, teamwork, skill, and a good aim in

order to achieve victory over their enemy. Battlefield

2 allows players to fight in a variety of vehicles such

as mobile and versatile APCs, powerful and formida-

ble main battle tanks, fast and furious attack helicop-

ters, or supersonic jets with devastating firepower. Or,

one could fight as an infantryman, providing suppres-

sive fire support using light machine guns, engaging

in close-range combat with assault rifles or carbines,

sniping enemies from long range, healing and reviv-

ing teammates as medics, or destroying tanks using

guided anti-tank missiles launchers. This guide was

created with the aim of teaching new players of this

game the absolute basics of the game, useful informa-

tion, and tactics that will keep you alive during the

battle. All ground vehicles will be covered as well;

however, air vehicles such as attack helicopters and

jet fighters will not be covered in this guide. The first

step to victory awaits!

that no one controls it.

Chat box: Displays the chat in the game.

Health and stamina: The top bar shows your health level, the

bar below that (not shown) shows your stamina level.

Kits Special forces

Primary weapon: low-damage carbine, usually with attachments

(enhances sights, etc.)

Secondary weapon: silenced handgun

Grenades: hand grenades

Equipment 1: C4 packets (left click to deploy, right click to

switch to a detonator)

Equipment 2: none

Well-rounded unit capable of medium range shooting, or close

combat. Can use C4 to destroy vehicles or set an ambush.

Sniper Primary weapon: high damage sniper rifle, either bolt-action or

semi-automatic

Secondary weapon: silenced handgun

Grenades: hand grenades

Equipment 1: claymores (left click to deploy, explodes when

someone steps in front of it)

Equipment 2: none

Specializes in medium-long range sniping using very accurate

and powerful sniper rifles. Claymores can be used to defend an

area from infantry attack.

Assault Primary weapon: assault rifle with high-low damage, either full-

automatic or three-round-burst

Secondary weapon: handgun

Grenades: under-barrel grenade launcher

Equipment 1: smoke grenade

Equipment 2: none

Well-rounded unit capable of medium range shooting, or close

combat. Smoke grenades blind the enemy, allowing for an unhin-

dered advance.

Kits Support

Primary weapon: light machine gun with high-low damage, either

belt-fed or magazine-fed

Secondary weapon: handgun

Grenades: hand grenades

Equipment 1: ammunition bag

Equipment 2: none

A high rate of fire and large magazines allow for high damage at

short range and suppression of enemy positions. The ammunition

bag allows for resupply of friendly troops.

Engineer Primary weapon: shotgun with high-low damage depending on

range, either pump-action or semi-automatic

Secondary weapon: handgun

Grenades: hand grenades

Equipment 1: anti-tank mines

Equipment 2: repair kit

Very powerful at short range due to their shotguns. Anti-tank

mines can be used to defend an area against vehicles. Repair kit

allows for repair of friendly vehicles.

Medic Primary weapon: assault rifle with high-low, either full-automatic

or three-round-burst

Secondary weapon: handgun

Grenades: hand grenades

Equipment 1: medical kit

Equipment 2: defibrillator

Well-rounded unit capable of medium range shooting, or close

combat. Medical kit heals friendly troops. Defibrillator allows for

revival of critically-wounded allies and can be used as a melee

weapon.

9

Kits Anti-tank

Primary weapon: low-damage sub-machine gun

Secondary weapon: handgun

Grenades: none

Equipment 1: guided anti-tank missile launcher, guided by keep-

ing crosshairs on target

Equipment 2: none

Specializes at destroying enemy vehicles such as tanks, transports

or jeeps from any possible distance provided that the operator is

skilled enough. Effective at close range combat due to their

weapon’s high rate of fire.

Land vehicles Tanks

Armament:

Large-caliber, high-damage main gun

7.62mm co-axial machine gun

12.7mm top-mounted heavy machine gun

Tanks are armed with large main guns that deal high damage to

vehicles and infantry. A single shot from the gun can destroy ve-

hicles up to light transports, and kill multiple infantry troops.

The .50 cal machine gun on the top of the tank can be used to ef-

fectively defend against infantry. Tanks have very strong armour,

allowing them to withstand several hits from other tanks or anti-

tank guided missiles. The frontal armour of tanks is the strongest,

so always face your front towards the enemy. Tanks have weaker

armour on the sides and rear, and are therefore vulnerable to at-

tacks from those directions. When the tank is being targeted by

anti-tank guided missiles, a warning will sound. Smoke can be

deployed using the ‘X’ button, which will surround the tank in

thick smoke, obscuring it from sight. Use tanks as either a power-

ful defensive unit, or use it to break through enemy lines using

powerful firepower and strong armour.

Land vehicles Armoured personnel carriers

Armament:

Large-caliber auto cannon

Anti-tank guided missile

Several 7.62mm machine guns positioned in machine gun ports

on the side and rear

APCs are armed with a multi-purpose 25mm or 30mm auto can-

non, which can be used against infantry, jeeps, light transports, or

other APCs with a powerful effect. When facing tough opponents

such as tanks or other APCs, the APC can use its anti-tank guided

missile to deal heavy damage to its opponent. The APC also has

several machine gun ports on the sides and rear with 7.62mm ma-

chine guns which are operated by the passengers in the vehicle,

allowing the APC to have all angles covered. APCs are very fast,

and are also amphibious; however, they pay for this advantage

with very light armour, allowing it to be destroyed in a few hits

by tank shells or anti-tank guided missiles. When the APC is be-

ing targeted by anti-tank guided missiles, a warning will sound.

Smoke can be deployed using the ‘X’ button, which will surround

the APC in thick smoke, obscuring it from sight. Use APCs to

transport troops to the front line, then use its firepower to support

the infantry by destroying enemy positions.

Land vehicles Light transports

Armament:

Top-mounted .50 cal machine gun

Light transports are fast, agile, and they have space for one whole

squad. This allows them to quickly transport troops to the front

line or quickly reinforcing a faltering position. Light transports

are armed with a .50 cal machine gun mounted on the top of the

vehicle, allowing it to defend a position against transports and in-

fantry, or support troops in an advance on enemy positions. Light

transports have little or no armour; this makes them vulnerable to

anything larger than a .50 cal machine gun-a single tank shell or

ATGM will destroy it. Use light transports to transport troops to

the frontlines quickly, then use the .50cal machine gun to help

support the advance.

Page 13: How to play Battlefield 2

13

Land vehicles Jeeps

Armament:

.50cal rear-mounted machine gun

7.62mm passenger seat machine gun

Jeeps are armed with either a semi-rigid or a free-swinging .50cal

machine gun at the rear of the jeep operated by a gunner, and

a .7.62mm machine gun that is operated by the passenger in the

passenger seat. This unusually powerful armament for such a

small vehicle allows it to defend a position or itself against infan-

try or transports extremely effectively. Jeeps have no armour at

all-it is easily destroyed even by a .50cal machine gun, and the

crew is completely exposed to fire, allowing enemies to pick out

the crew. However, it makes up for this with high speed and ma-

neuverability, allowing it to travel from point to point very

quickly. This allows it to transport a small team of infantry to the

fight quickly, or be used to defend a position against infantry at-

tack.
