It has been over 30 years since Stocks & Commodities magazine reviewed Charles Drummond’s book called, How To Make Money In The Futures Market & Lots Of It! The book was originally written by Charles Drummond to keep himself from fiddling with a longer term trade in sliver at the time. It is with great enthusiasm that we provide Stocks & Commodities the first release of a new article outlining Drummond’s brand new form of technical analysis.

What is reality?

Presumably it is something you perceive.

You imagine you are the son of God, there is no God, you see angels, you hear from them, you sit by a tree and meditate, you delight in exorcism, you decide the world is better off without capitalists, you think what you think, not knowing why you think like you think since you do what you do because you do what you do. Not knowing reality. Not knowing what creates you. Not knowing that you do not create yourself. Not knowing that there may be a field out there, some moving point like a lightning strike that creates reality you perceive. So, what creates reality? You? Get a new reality since you are what you are by the reality of the world and what is around you.

You have a seed in your hand. You put it in the ground. Water arrives and the seed grows. Whatmade the seed grow? The seed? No. Your hand? The earth? The water? Something did.

A human mind, came up with the idea of 'technical analysis'. A reality was formed. Who started this? Fibonacci? The scribes of Jesus, Mohamed…others? One gets used to tying one's own shoelaces, or wearing a particular thing on your head. Reality is created. Can this be watched? Watch what? Energy? Why not. Lightning strikes are fun to watch.

Moving averages are fun to watch. Wiggly lines going up and down, like every oscillator, and all of technical analysis.


Why do they exist? Becus someone created them? An idea. What is an idea? Energy perhaps.

An argument or thesis might be made that everything is a form of energy. We may be doing this in technical analysis. Perhaps watching energy express itself. Perhaps marvelous to watch. With admiration for what 'man' has created.

All is the same, no matter what sort of hat one wears. Not knowing this is like not sitting on one's brain.

Here is a pretty picture of a typical technical analysis chart. Price is not contained within an expression of itself or immediately within a form of actual energy.

Here is a typical source of information one sees when viewing technical analysis journals or sources of its information. We suggest that a simple chart expresses energy within itself, and the mind thereafter uses that energy as an expression of itself. Words are not needed.


So. Words, words, words. Just that and only that. Ideas being expressed. Words and ideas go on and on and on.

Charles Drummond has done more than his share of going on and on and on.

Examples (s).

HOUSING STARTS

A bar chart containg within itself, an expression of energy, based on yearly data. Housing Starts were not traded. They exist. Price bars exist, expressing energy being energy itself.


SUNSPOTS

Energy expressed as a bar chart, from observation of monks in the 17th Century. Yes, the sun is an expression of energy contained within itself. A price bar is an expression of energy.

ASTROLOGY

Price bars were created based on price occurring at particular moments when certain planets themselves aligned in certain ways.



MOODS

Drummond one particular day scaled how he felt in terms of mood, based on a scale of 1 to 10. If he felt awful scaled at '1', if he felt great, scaled at '10'. Each bar represents one hour. Energy being expressed.

I have currently begun reading a book on brain cures, written by a (now) world famous Toronto physician studying neuroplasticity. In just a few pages so far, I am astonished at the correlation to what we do! Amazingly, he is studying energy! Energy cures the mind, even autism and dementia.

I'm reading that external energy reshapes the brain; light, sound etc. Energy is a new topic in understanding how the brain works. Pioneers; as we are, these physicians studying this field have had to fight the establishment in order for the concept to be accepted. Now, however, neuroplasticity is a new science, a certified doctoral field. It can be understood, thus that our approach to technical analysis(that all is based on energy) is fresh out of the gate into the technical analysis community. As this approach is new, we may expect some challenges also.


Charles Drummond has given up trying to express energy. He has realized that all technical analysis can be contained within energy itself and simply expressed to the mind in a simple way, never changing.


Within the 'pretty colors', at all times, energy is contained within itself. A simple flex Renko bar in anintraday bar chart is an expression of energy. A vertical green or red bar is contained within the energy, which creates it.

Drummond Energy Bands uncover this strong energy of support or resistance for the trading lean in advance! Knowing very strong leans of support or resistance in advance allows a trader to have clarity in knowing where the energy is coming from. In this way the trader can be proactive in their approach by reducing confusion and stress. The trader’s only job then is to be aware of the lean, wait and choose to join the market participants as they react to the lean’s strong energy.

The daily chart below of Disney (DIS) on June 10, 2015 has found one of the expressions of energy we call a Powermid buy trade setup. (Note the up white arrow) The weekly lower energy band (drawn in small dashed magenta lines) is energized up with the white dotted line we call the mid line. The rather large dashed purple lines is the monthly upper energy band providing temporary resistance causing Disney to return back down to the weekly mid for a refresh up via the Powermid buy setup, as this stock is very bullish!


The daily chart below of S&P 500 September futures (ES) currently is experiencing congestion action about our Weekly Energy Bands. If prices were to flush down to approximately 2000, it will find the Monthly has a Powermid trade setup ready and waiting. (Note the white up arrow) The Weekly white mid dotted line is not currently showing strong energy up and the rather large dashed purple lines above price are the monthly upper energy band. (Currently price is weak and unable to even reach this


monthly Upper Energy Band of resistance) Since this is the case, the Monthly Powermid buy trade is on the VEA Analysts radar. Potentially causing the ES to return back down to the monthly mid for a refresh up via the Powermid buy setup, as this futures contract maybe flushing lower!


We use crests and valleys for drawing significant visual support and resistance in the market. These crests and valleys are when the dotted e-mid line either hooks up (for support) or down (for resistance) and then we patiently wait for price to return to them. Please notice the left chart above is showing green horizontal lines for valleys of support or pink horizontal crest lines of resistance. A simple, precise and powerful technique to spot strong S/R energy visually in the market in real-time.

The left and right charts are of the NQ September futures contract. The left chart is showing a pink horizontal line (which the trader draws for themselves and patiently waits for price to return to 4584.50) with an up green arrow, indicating how resistance is possibly turning into support. Notice our left charts lower yellow is also associated with the pink horizontal line with the lower magenta energy band(potential strong support). We turn our attention to the right trade chart (to see if it is picking up the energy at 4584.50) where we notice a valley of support is drawn (horizontal green line with up green arrow) and as price gets close (almost to the tick) to the left charts pink line 4584.50 (also drawn on the right chart) we look for a green brick on close to trigger a buy market order. The challenge to this right charts green horizontal line valley of support, also has weak dots pushing down. The weak dots are the right charts upper red dots staying above the solid white mid-line, this weak energy down allows thetrader to enter when the energy is not strongly going against them as price associates with 4585.50.


The left chart has a down pink arrow in the upper yellow which is also inside our higher chart frame’s upper magenta energy band. (Drawn with large horizontal magenta dotted lines) Please note we also have a pink crest line (possibly going to be resistance turning into support 4589) in between the down pink arrow and up green arrow on the left chart. Also please note it is NOT associated with our left charts lower yellow band and we are thinking that it may not be likely that resistance will be turning into support. Our right trade chart gets a weak dot push up into its own crest of resistance for the left charts upper yellow and higher chart frame’s upper magenta energy band. Please notice the right charts blue dots are below its white solid mid-line indicating the energy is weak enough to enter short at the market on a red bar close. The right trade chart’s bricks stay red and slice down through all levels until reaching what we call our Powermid trade buy setup.


The Powermid trade is the same criteria that had been previously discussed on the Daily chart examples of DIS and the ES. The Powermid setup is where the left chart’s white dotted mid line is associated with its magenta dotted lower energy band (up green arrow). This energy field of support is picked up by the right trade chart’s challenge into a valley of support (green horizontal line with up green arrow) Please note the right trade charts upper red dots are strong, (they are below the solid white mid-line) however having a strong lean such as the Powermid trade allows the trade to bend this rule if the red dots stay above the valley of support at 4581.50 and the brick turns green, the trader is long at the market.


These patterns of energy and several others are found on all instruments and chart frames, such as flex renko bars, tick charts and even up to the yearly bars and beyond!

So, can technical analysis move in a new direction? Towards that which contains energy within itself; such as one simple graph, with price contained within it, and clearly expressed? So far, Visual Energy Analysis (VEA) using Drummond Energy Bands seems to do so.

I sincerely wish that current day technical analysis included a simple to read expression of market energy. This is the future of technical analysis and the frontier which we can now cross with birth of Drummond Energy Bands. Something makes that seed grow in the ground. Energy. Energy exists. We can observe it. The trick is to make it easy on the mind so it can be easily observed and interpreted. We can guarantee that the human mind will do what it can to criticize energy or change it.

It cannot, since energy exists and we can observe it within pretty colors. It is my sincere hope that technical analysis moves toward a graphical representation of energy, simply expressed. That the human mind will not make it complicated, although, one cannot deny human nature. Energy can be simply expressed graphically as we do with Drummond Energy Bands Visual Energy Analysis (VEA). Patterns exist, within the energy expressing itself. These patterns can be observed, and successfully traded for profit.
