The benefits of high-intensity, repetitive, task-specific interventions have been shown to play an important role in motor learning and functional recovery for patients with a variety of motor impairments. In this intermediate evidenced based course, PT/PTAs, OT/COTAs and ATCs will learn practical ideas for treatment planning to maximize motor learning and how AlterG technologies support these theories. Therapeutic use of both the AlterG Anti-Gravity Treadmill and the AlterG Bionic Leg will be covered in detail and hands-on application will be practiced. Therapists will apply the new skills learned through this course to integrate AlterG technologies into a patient’s treatment plan and ultimately impact clinical practice across continuum of care. At the completion of this course, participants will be able to: describe the principles of motor learning that are supported by AlterG technologies. describe 3 practice conditions that can facilitate better acquisition of new motor skills. describe how AlterG technologies can enhance and accelerate motor learning. formulate a treatment plan that includes use of AlterG technologies for patients with mobility impairments.
