SQL SERVER 2005 EXPRESS Edition

DOWNLOAD

Please DOWNLOAD SQL Server 2005 Express edition with latest Service Pack ( SP4 ). This page could be also find by enter [ SQL SERVER 2005 EXPRESS SP4 ] in Google search No need to download all files just click on [ DOWNLOAD ] button in front of SQLEXPR_ADV.EXE

INSTALLATION ON SERVER ON WINDOWS 7

Double click on the SQLEXPR_ADV.EXE to run. It will take some time to extract in a temporary folder.

If Windows enquires about permission press [ Yes ]

An End User Licence Agreement will be appear. Just check [ ] on I accept and press [ Next ]

Press [ Install ]

Press [ Next ]

It will take some time to install when list is completed then press [ Next ]

A progress bar will be appeared. Press [ next ]


In Registration Info default User Name will be appeared. On the lower side of form there is a check box [] Hide advanced configuration options Remove the tick ( Un Check )and press [ Next ]

On Feature Selection Form Expend Client Components. Click on Connectivity Components and select Entire Feature will be installed on local hard drive Click on Management Studio Express and select Entire Feature will be installed on local hard drive

Now Press [ Next ]


On Instance name don’t change the name Just press [Next]

On Service Account Check both services SQL Server SQL Browser

Press [ Next ]

On Authentication Mode Select Mixed Mode Enter password for server twice ( eg: pakistan ) Press [ Next ]


No change Just press [ Next ]

Check both Enable User Instances Add User to SQL Server Administrator role

Press [ Next ]

No change on Error and Usage Report Settings Press [ Next ]


Just press [ Install ]

It will take a long time ( about 15-30 minutes ) so be patient. On completions press [ Next ]

SQL SERVER 2005 EXPRESS Edition Installed Successfully Press [ Finish ]


CONFIGURE SERVER ACCESS FOR REMOTE COMPUTERS

After installation of SQL Server 2005 Express the database could be accessed on the SERVER PC but to make sure its

accessibility on other PC in network some configuration is required.

From [ Start menu ] open All Programs Select : Microsoft SQL 2005

Configuration Tools SQL Server Surface Area Configuration

Click on Surface Area Configuration for Services and Connections

Click on : SQL EXPRESS Database Engine Remote Connections On Right Side Select Local and Remote Connections Using TCP/IP Only Click [ Apply ] And press [ OK ]


ADD EXCEPTIONS IN WINDOWS FIREWALL

Open control panel

Click on Windows Firewall

On Left Panel click on Allow a program or feature through Windows Firewall

First click on [ Change Settings ] button to enable [ Allow another Program ] button Now press [ Allow another Program ]

Press [ Browse ] in appeared form.

Select : C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\Binn\sqlservr.exe And press [ Add ] Now add another file in exceptions C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\90\Shared\sqlbrowser.exe


Setting IP address ( Recommended )

It is recommended that set the IP addresses of all PCs in a network manually having same series

Server Client 1 Client 2 Client 3 Client 4 192.168.1.10 192.168.1.100 192.168.1.101 192.168.1.102 192.168.1.103

and so on

Right click on the network icon Select Network and Sharing Center from appeared menu

Click on Change Adapter Settings

Now right click on the Network Icon and select properties

Select Internet Protocol Version 4 ( TCP/IPv4) Press [ Properties ]


Now set IP address for all PCs one by one.
