YOU MUST BE CONNECTED TO THE INTERNET TO INSTALL & UPDATE THIS SOFTWARE
This software is FREE for all UNE students. It is highly recommended that you install this software, however UNE is not responsible for any misuse, hardware failure, or issues that
arise from its installation and usage.
The software is set up to automatically UPDATE and SCAN regularly – it is important that you DO NOT CHANGE any settings in the program.
WARNING: Please remove any current antivirus software on your computer and restart
your machine before downloading Sophos onto your computer. For advice on how to uninstall please contact the vendor of your current antivirus software product.
If you download and update this software ON CAMPUS and CONNECTED TO THE UNE NETWORK it will NOT affect your UNE internet quota.
If you do not download and update this software on campus and via the UNE network, it will affect your home/personal internet quota.
Go to www.une.edu.au/antivirus
Click on “Download Anti-Virus” from the menu along the left
hand side ”Download Sophos for Mac OSX 10.6+ on your private home computer only STUDENTS/STAFF
ONLY”.
Sign in using your UNE username and password.
Click on “Save File” and double click on “sophosOSX.dmg”. (Alternatively, insert the CD and double-click in the installer to
start the installation)

Click on “Continue” twice and click on “Agree”.
Click on the disk drive that you want to install the software to and click on “Continue” and “Install”.
Name – your computer name (should automatically be entered)
Password – your computer password
Click on “OK”.
Installation is now complete, click on “Close”.
Click on (Apple Menu) “Restart”

Click on the logo in the top right corner of the screen.
Click on “Open Sophos Anti-Virus Preferences…”.
Click on the “AutoUpdate” tab and click on the in the bottom left of the screen.
Name – your computer name (should automatically be entered)
Password – your computer password
Click on “OK”.
IMPORTANT – DO NOT CHANGE ANY SETTINGS
Address – on https://antivirus.une.edu.au/sophos/CIDS/S006/ESCOSX/
Username – your UNE username Password – your UNE password
Click on and close the screen.
Click on the logo and click on “Update Now”. A pop up box will appear and updates will download.
When the updates are finished, click on “Scan This Mac”.
TO UNINSTALL
Click on “Finder” “Go” “Computer” “the drive the
software is installed on” “Library” “Sophos Anti-
Virus” “Remove Sophos Anti-Virus.pkg”

Click on “Continue”.
Click on the drive the software is installed on and click on “Continue”.
Click on “Install” – this will remove the Sophos anti-virus from your computer.
