Step 1: Barcode, Date Sampled, Collected At

A: Affix Barcodes provided (yellow sticker)

B: Date Sample= Date that sample is taken from the prisoner

C: Collected At= Centre where sample is being taken and type of centre

Three possible results to expect…

Valid Urine- Negative to all substances

Adulterated Sample- the urine does not reach the required temp. and/or the Adulteration strip indicates adulteration

Valid urine – positive to known drug/s

Step 2: Drugs to be returned with a Confirmation result

After the prisoner has provided his/her sample, it is important to wait until the substance strips have provided a result. If the prisoner is positive for 1-3 individual substances, tick the boxes that coincide with the cup result.

Step 2: Example

For example, the prisoner returns a positive result for;

Amphetamines (AMP), Cannabis (THC), and Buprenorphine (BUP)

NB: Creatinine is a mandatory test

Step 3: Standard Immunoassay ScreenIn the instance that the cup is faulty (eg, cup shows nil temperature, adulteration strip shows nil result or the substance strips show nil result), sample adulteration is suspected OR the prisoner has tested positive for ALL substances, a standard immunoassay screen should be requested.

Step 3: Example

In the instance that the prisoner is positive to all substances, including Buprenorphine (BUP)…the form should be completed as shown…
