The park has won awards for the high standard of accessibility for its trails which have been designed to be fully accessible for all users. This sign indicates that the path is for shared use and pedestrians have right of way. Paths which don’t have this sign are for pedestrians only. In most cases towpaths are not public rights of way but routes can be used by the public with the permission of the landowner. Permission to use the towpath is given to walkers and cyclists on a long term basis by British Waterways. Lee Valley Pathway Lee Valley Pathway was launched in 1996 to provide a combined use cycling and walking route for the entire length of Lee Valley Regional Park, from Ware in Hertfordshire to East India Dock Basin at the River Thames. Providing direct links to most of the park’s venues and to the site of the London 2012 Olympic Games, the pathway winds its way through 25 miles of the Lee Valley’s hugely diverse landscape. From spectacular hill-top vistas, to wetlands, rivers and lake-side, woodland, farmland and industrial heritage environments. Lea Valley Walk This path offers 50 miles of traffic-free walking, tracing the route of the River Lea from its source at Leagreave near Luton to where it meets the Thames. The walk undergoes a fascinating metamorphosis from rural pathway to urban trail. Most of the pathways in the park are well surfaced makingthem suitable for wheelchairs and buggies, family cycling, walking and running. The park has won awards for thehigh standard of accessibility for its trails which have beendesigned to be fully accessible for all users.

This sign indicates that the path is for shared useand pedestrians have right of way. Paths whichdon’t have this sign are for pedestrians only.

In most cases towpaths are not public rights of way butroutes can be used by the public with the permission of the landowner. Permission to use the towpath is givento walkers and cyclists on a long term basis by BritishWaterways.

Lee Valley PathwayLee Valley Pathway was launched in 1996 to provide acombined use cycling and walking route for the entirelength of Lee Valley Regional Park, from Ware inHertfordshire to East India Dock Basin at the River Thames.

Providing direct links to most of the park’s venues and tothe site of the London 2012 Olympic Games, the pathwaywinds its way through 25 miles of the Lee Valley’s hugelydiverse landscape. From spectacular hill-top vistas, towetlands, rivers and lake-side, woodland, farmland andindustrial heritage environments.

Lea Valley WalkThis path offers 50 miles of traffic-free walking, tracing theroute of the River Lea from its source at Leagreave nearLuton to where it meets the Thames. The walk undergoes afascinating metamorphosis from rural pathway to urbantrail.

Stretching over 10,000 acres, the park winds its way 26 miles along the banks of the River Lee from Ware in Hertfordshire, down through Essex, North London, past the Olympic Park to East India Dock Basin on the River Thames.

With a fantastic mix of nature, sport and leisure venues, heritage sites, gardens, parklands and riverside trails there’s something for all ages and tastes just waiting to be discovered. The park also offers excellent educational opportunities for environmental and heritage programmes and sport and leisure activities.

Lee Valley Regional Park Authority is playing a key part in the most exciting event in the world this year - the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games! The Authority currently runs Lee Valley White Water Centre and we’ll take on another three venues in legacy after the Games – Lee Valley VeloPark, Lee Valley Hockey Centre and Lee Valley Tennis Centre on the Olympic Park in Stratford.

This guide provides information about how to get to all the park’s venues and open spaces. We’re well served by train, tube and bus, plus most of our sites have car parks nearby. You can also get here via the many surfaced footpaths and cycle routes.
